After today's game I believe the title challenge may be over (City look the business) and Champions League glory may be out of reach (Barca and Real are the business), Carling Cup and/or FA Cup glory must be the target, with a top four finish to accompany it. Today was a terrible one for Chelsea but we are in transition as far as I can see. Are these expectations realistic or am I being pessimistic?

Are we in transition though? Other than Luiz and Mata, I saw a team today with the exact same players that have been at the club for the better part of a decade, playing the same static stuff we saw with Ancellotti. The only differnce is now we leak goals. What is that building towards?

Top 4 and carling/fa cup will do

Must finish top 4...That's our most important challenge this season and should make our priority
I'd like to see a decent cup run in CL (Could reach semis with a kind draw) or FA Cup
"We are in transition" is a phrase that's been said over and over in the last couple of years, without anything changing, but this is the first season we are actually in transition

We are in transition.

The way you played today, more like you were in Traction.

TGI we're definitely thinking more long term in the type of buys we do

TBK that's true, but it seems there's a bit of a gap. We have over-30s that were world class a few years back and under-20s that could be very good (McEachran, Romeu, Courtois, Lukaku ) and not much inbetween. We do have players that are in their prime age-wise, but they are not performing well or are just not title-winning quality players. Certainly the heart of our team is not in the right age bracket. Maybe we just have to grin and bear it or we need to sign some more Matas and Meirleseses.

I see what you mean. Sturridge is slowly becoming more like that, I know he still has some way to go. And hopefully Bertrand will be allowed to pressure Cole eventually this season

avoid relegation...

As they were at the start of the season.
A top 4 finish and an impressive last third of the season when we finally crack playing to a new style of offensive football.
Will we achieve this? I don´t know.

3rd I'd be pleased with for sure. Still feel that if we improve after Jan, we can finish second
We just need to make sure that we don't completely fall apart by then, and that we have the same manager!
Also, good FA Cup run and 1/4s of the CL would be great
