Why do they always describe a Centre forward as someone who plays behind the striker? A centre-forward IS a striker, in its most 'out-and-out' form to me
Doesn't make sense, and has baffled me on every FIFA game that has come out. That is all
FIFA positions

Second striker
That's what they do on PES at least

Good point, center forward to me sounds like the further forward striker in the center of the pitch.

they simply make the distinction between a forward and a striker. not may games do.
a forward is effectively the target man/deep lying forward, a striker is the man on the shoulder of the last defender...
using a couple of current players as an example, Rooney is a forward, Hernandez is a striker

But in real life, that description of a striker you've just made would be what a lot of people would describe as a centre forward
A centre forward and a striker are the same things to me
Someone who's a deeper forward like Rooney/Suarez - I know what you mean
But there are better names for such type of player IMO!

yeah i think technically u would compare a centre forwadd as the target man/holding forward. striker would be furthest forward ie finisher. a player that plays on the edge of the 6 yard box.
