Any shred of substance in this story?
Can't see it myself, decent finisher though...

can't see it however i think its more realistic than benzema, falcao etc. when i hear who we're linked with i build up my hopes however we always end up settling for second best. Classic example is the phil jones/ cahill saga when we'll probably end up with samba (don't get me wrong, samba would be my first choice out the three but not many share my outlook).

i also think samba would be a good sigining for us. cant always buy technical players. We need a bit of a unit at the back and i think he would be a good buy

agreed! We have enough fancy dans who like to mess on trying to pass the ball out of defence, sometimes we just need someone to put their foot thru the ball. for example In the carling cup final when kosc was dicking around for martins winner, if that had been samba he would have got rid even if it meant taking chesneys head off!

I was thinking exactly the same thing just now about the carling cup goal

Samba won't be a bad addition to the squad but do you really think he'll start week in week out?
I get the feeling he'll be bought as back up for kos and vermaelan, and for that purpose he's a decent purchase...
Gervinho transfer gossip worries me more, just isn't what we need right now

We need Samba and I think he would be great partnering Vermaelen or Kos. I just hope he is good enough.

defoe? i can kind of see how it would fit - after all, we need a striker who can fit into a mobile forward line, and defoe's movement is quick and pretty clever.
but his form is patchy, even when he gets a run of starts. would he be the goal-hungry finisher we need or would he fall into the 'what was wenger thinking?' category?

Really? Out of those 3 Samba would probably be a distant third in my opinion.
Phil Jones at 19 would obviously be the player I'd take first, and Cahill is both younger and quicker than Samba as well.
