Euro 2012 Squad?

I think the majority of the squad will pick itself but who would you like to see drafted into the squad for the Euros?

I think depending on the game, Trap will have to change his style of play. Defensive tactics only get you so far but if your 3-0 down to the likes of Germany after 10 minutes, I can't see Andrews or Whelan getting us out of that pickle!

I would be worried about players like Gibson and Keogh being named in the squad. Both of these players have been given chances at international level and looked way out of their depth.

Personally I would like to see one or two players given more opportunities in friendlies over the next few months especially Houlihan, Best, Coleman and McCarthy.

There's no harm in calling up Pilkington as well and having a look at him. He's had a decent start to the season at Norwich and theres talk of Liverpool making an offer for him in January

If we're 3-0 down after 10mins against the germans messi, iniester and xavi with ronaldo and rooney up front would'nt get us out of that pickle.
Id like to see the norwich lads a chance and robbie brady, man U, but on loan at hull their chance, can't figure out why coleman is not a cert to start games.

I really think there's only 2 or 3 places up for grabs. I think that 20 places have already been decided and 3 places are left to fill.

GK: Given, Westwood, Forde (3)
DEF: Dunne, O'Shea, St Leger, O'Dea, Kelly, Ward (6)
MID: Duff, Andrews, Whelan, McGeady, Hunt, Fahey, Walters (7)
FWD: Keane, Doyle, Cox, Long (4)

There's a fair few squad regulars such as McCarthy, Coleman, McShane, Keogh, Gibson, Lawrence, Kilbane, Foley that aren't on that list. Anyone that's not already been called up to the squad has practically no chance of making the final 23 man squad.

I'd say the first 20 players you mention there are certs Franko assuming no injuries...

Realistically that leaves space for McCarthy, Wilson and maybe Coleman/Foley/Pilkington?

Really can't see Best getting picked ahead of the 5 forwards we already have in the squad, unless he shows exceptional form and Cox continues to get overlooked at West Brom.

Tbh for all the raving about Best, he is just the foil to Demba Ba at Newcastle this season and is not the goalscoring striker that everybody seems to think he is...

Hoolihan is an attacking mid who plays "in the hole" so I really can't see how he's ever going to fit into the Trap midfield system.

Anthony Pilkington has a much better chance of making the squad imo, given our lack of pacey wing options behind McGeady and Duff.

RB position is a worry, because behind the hapless Kelly, we have Coleman who is not really a RB and has prove to be suspect at defending, likewise Foley is mostly a midfielder for Wolves and hasn't started a game this season... which leaves ony McShane No solid defensive options there I'm afraid!

Kilbane finished, green back from injury, time for him, maybe.

What about delay his mega throw with Kevin Doyle on the pitch would be epic.
