Europa League

Hi my blue cousins, I am genuinely interested to get your thoughts on playing in the Europa League (now that it seems highly likely you will be doing so)

it seems to me that before 'the project' started many of you would of been quite happy to compete in Europes second tier competition but i get the impression that many of you now feel it is beneath your clubs ambitions...
i have seen numerous comments on this board usually aimed at the potatoes deriding their clubs achievements by playing in the 'EU-Ropey League' 'The Channel 5 cup' 'The Thursday night cup' none of these are expressions i would use but i have seen these used by city fans as a way of mocking the potatoes.

I recently saw an article on here asking why so many potatoes were mocking and wumming your club (after being beaten by Napoli).... i would of thought it was obvious your fans have been very arrogant over the last few months and now it seems as though your first CL campaign has ended in humiliation (indeed spurs did much much better with far less resources) you will be joining Spurs in the Europa League that many of you feel is beneath you i just wanted your thoughts on this?... do you also think that the potatoes wumming of you is perfectly justified given the very arrogant attitude of some of your fans recently?

Keep it on topic please

I suggest you look closer to home and ask why you are one of the least respected fanbases in world football.
................................

City are rapidly rising up that table... you can understand the arrogance of some fans at least their clubs built towards and earnt their success...

City fans these days are just arrogant with absolutely no reason to be so...

........................................
In terms of football, it's like the Champions League, but with fewer Barcelonas and more Wigans. It'll suit you well.
........................................

The champions league does suit us well, 3 finals in 4 years is beyond Citys wildest dreams..

City on the other hand

Dynamo Kiev
Shevchenko
Napoli
Bayern

Still a small club in Europe despite outspending the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid

Not Arrogant Just Better MUFC 19 We are buying a brand new perch this old one smells funny 19 (U9396)

I wouldn't expect you to understand.

Huge generalization there fella, its a weird and unsettling to say we expect to win certain fixtures these days.

In the past, any three prem points would have put a smile on our faces over the weekend, nowadays we feel a bit down if we dont give a good account of ourselves in a game.

Also, theres a couple of "City" posters on here who I'm not particularly convinced, so a pinch of salt if you please.

Rocket you seem okay, I would add that Ripleys Cat is also a fine poster...

But I am hardly going to say complimentary things in a topic in which United fans are generalised as arrogant, it could be said to be true that United fans are generally arrogant. It could also be said to be true that City fans are getting a bit arrogant themselves...

Theres posters on every board who make their own team look bad... it is hard to tell where the idiot and opposition fan making a team look bad line is..

Of course generalisations don't fit the whole group but a decent majority...

I'd agree, the generalizations don't really work too well. You cant possibly guess how you would react in our position, having years of turgid punishment, just as we are find it difficult to be proud of having a good side without coming across like the people we have criticised for so long for exactly the same thing. Noone likes a hypocrite.

We're all similar at the end of the day. I love rivalry, so long as there is respect there. "Not Arrogant Just Better MUFC 19" Comes on our board with this, and he deserves distain. Hence why fans like yourself get a proper answer!

Rather and odd statment; you can't ahve it all ways, we are either the most hated or foloowed by the most glory hunters, please make your mind up, which is it?

Hated? The point I was trying to make is it is very easy to support the club you do. I can say I have a lot more respect for the 17000 or so Wigan fans that turn up expecting to watch their team get consistently mullered, than the likes of Liverpool or United fans, where their main gripes are about having a below par midfield, and having to wait a few years for a trophy. Surely you can understand this?

(U9396) Just look at the group where Utd are in. If Utd don't get the right result in Basle, even a draw might not be good enough to see you through. Then it is good bye Utd and you also will be in the Europa League, along with us.

(U9396) You say you're not arrogant then what about the banner that the UTds fans had put up that just goses to show how arrogant you're fans are.

7_The_Best I have yet to meet 1 city fan that is or has been arrogant, the only ones that I have met that have been arrogant have been fans from the red side of Manchester. In fact I have met many rags fans who have come upto me in the centre of Manchester and asked me how I get to the football stadium, and me in my City shirt. Just goses to show how many of your supporters are just following a team that is winning trophys. Before you ask how do I know they were Utd supporters they were wearing a Utd shirt.

Yes if we continue to be successful thereis know doubt we will also get the glory hunters joining the bandwagon. Before you want to start slagging me of as a glory hunter I ahve been followint the club since 1967/68 season inthe days of Colin Bell, Francis Lee, Mike Summerbee, the late Neil Young & Mike Doyle, etc. So I have been through both the good times and the bad times, and so has most of the 40,000 fans who still follow us.

a draw is good enough for United to get through maths isn't your strong suit is it?

NYoung, what the 35 years banner ? whats arrogant about that ?

Suprisingly you don't seem to find City fans arrogant but find United fans arrogant... theres a big shock...

What don't we make our way over to the Tottenham board and ask them if City fans are arrogant these days ?

Of course United have glory hunters... plenty of them. I wouldn't say just not knowing your way to the stadium makes you one though. You could have gone alot as a kid but then moved away not really had the money to go anymore and years later come back for a game...

You could be someone who lives fairly local (say 20 odd miles out) but has never bothered making his way to the stadium, wouldn't call them a very good fan but aslong as they were supporting before the glory started rolling in surely they cannot be called a glory hunter ?
