What are we missing?

Something has obviously changed between this season and last and given our current run of form a lot of people are starting to panic/ get down or just plain angry and I think that we are Missing 3 players from last season and our excellent form namely Holden, Lee and Elmander.

Now I know most people here will be face palming at the first 2 and saying that's obvious but the last one is a little different, Starting with Lee he is simply brilliant and is our creative spark when fit and can create something from a nothing situation which we have certainly been missing. Holden was solid both in attack where his ability to both retain possession and pick a pass were brilliant and in defence where he again could help to retain possession and put in key tackles to soak up pressure before it got to our back 4. Having those two fit for this season would have been a real boost and our season would have been looking much better and while with all of the injuries not up to the heights of last seasons peak but in a decent mid table position. I think this is where Elmander comes in as his (sometimes aimless) running about simply caused issues for the opposition and opened up some space for players like lee to exploit and while his contribution was not as important as the other players mentioned he had a part to play in our success.

Now looking to our current squad we have some real issues like having only 1 fit full back in Robbo and only 2 fit out and out strikers with N'Gog injured (Tunchay I do not think fits that bill). Now for a while I have been thinking we play a 4-2-3-1 with muamba and NRC holding and 2 of Eagles/Petrov/Kakuta and either Mavies/Tunchay in a creative role behind N'Gog to run about and cause problems with the possibility of adding in Klasnic for Tunchay/Mavies for more of a goal threat however given the current CM'ers we have we cannot have both the defence and attack supported in the same way we did last season period with no Holden.

Finally I would ask you all what would you do if you were Coyle and you only had 1 fit FB were missing your 2 star players, only had 2 fit strikers to choose from and lacked and truly versatility in CM without making sacrifices

PS I have had a few drinks so if this is a bit incomprehensible please forgive

I'd get all the squad together, an hour before every kick-off, and then draw 11 names out of a hat .... tell 'em to sort out between themselves a formation, and where they want to play in it, and then sit in the dugout with all the mornin' papers.....

.... and I'd still get more points this season than Owen Coyle

Watching coyle today he has learnt all he knows from the Kevin Keegan school of management. It's all passion but no substance. I certainately would like somebody with tactical ideas appointed to work with coyle. Maybe Walter smith now that he has left rangers to work as an advisor.

Elmander.

I thought we were being serious?

I'd like to come on here and defend Owen Coyle to the hilt but I can't tonight. I'm just too angry.

I'm angry with David Wheater for getting himself sent off again. I'm angry that we seemed clueless and inept. I'm angry that Owen Coyle waited until we were already a goal down to bring on Steinson and repeated the mistake he made last time a man got sent off.

Mostly I'm angry that we seemed to lack conviction against a side that hasn't exactly set the league alight this year. I'm angry that Owen keeps coming out week after week to say it wasn't good enough and he's sorry. I'm angry because I still have some faith in him but it's starting to erode. I asked other people to wait five games before judging him and stuck up for him against other posters on here again and again.

Yes the injury list is horrific. Yes the opening even fixtures were awful BUT in five games since then we have six points from a possible fifteen. We look like a side that's lost its way and its will.

I'm angry because Petrov and others will be able to call for his head and I have nothing to counter them with other than my faith and the fact we have so many key players missing. My faith is not being rewarded on the field with displays that would at least suggest we're up for the fight.

That makes me angriest of all.

Lpp you stuck to your word๎Ÿ. I still would not sack coyle till the blackburn game. At that point it's make or break and if it's still as bad as today and coyle finds himself being paid to lose games I will boo him. I have not my anger at the ground has been contained but coyle has lost control. Bwfc is falling apart infront of him and all he can do is say sorry.

We are missing players.

What can we do about it before January? Nothing.
What can we do in January? Very little.
Can we blame our dire season on it? Yes
Should we? No.
Is Coyle a good manager? Better than some, but far too naive.
Should we sack him? No, but he must learn from HIS mistakes soon.
Is asking questions like this annoying? Yes.
