Macheda

Thought he looked very sharp yesturday, only been back a week and he came on and played a nice cameo, he should have done better with the header but he is only young.

Hoping he plays on Wednesday and i hope he gets loaned out to a premier league team. I think he would bang in the goals for a team like Everton or Bolton.

Didnt somebody (inside Man Utd) say he was the deadliest finisher we had last year?

I think with the progress of Welbeck and Hernandez this year and the fact that we still have Berbatov and Owen means his chances will be limited.

He is still young enough that if the latter two left in the summer he could have more of a chance next year. He needs regular football now so a Jan loan would be ideal.

Dont write him off yet...

Don't be silly he didn't flop. Samp sold Cassano to Milan and Pazzini to Inter and replaced them with Macheda! He was in a team that was in free fall, was rarely played as a striker and we all know how hard it is to go into a relegation threatened team and perform miracles. A players like Rossi also "flopped" on loan and is now a star! He is a young player that will do well with a run of games in a mid table team. Sending him to wigan for example would be a bad move as he won't get service, won't score and will then be benched. Everton is an interesting prospect.

Bats, he would be the 2nd best striker at Arsenal after van Persie and thats saying something! Chamack is a waste and Gervinho, Walcott, Arsharvin and Ox are not strikers.

I should clarify, I meant send him on loan to a Championship side, not a Premier League one.

Im not saying he couldnt cut it in the top division but he needs to be starting games. Will he get that at Everton? I dont think so...

he is a poor mans craig linfield.

He probably would get games at Everton due to Saha being injured half the time and they not having anyone else! Cahill is not a stiker and that Argie bloke with an unpronouncable name hasn't been starting too much. Macheda can player in a 1 striker system and he would be good for them imo.

Macheda will develop later than forwards that rely on pace. He has a future at united I'm sure.

Craig Lindfield never got on the pitch though, apart from in some friendly against Crewe. I don't think anyone who saw him play regularly ever thought he had much of a chance.

He is just another one of the (currently) extensive list of players at the club that most younger posters on these boards see as better than they actually are, or have greater potential than they really do. The kind of fools that consistently seem to believe that young = good. This is not Arsenal FC, MUFC are light years ahead of that kind of academy club mentatlity. This is the greatest football club in England we are discussing here.

See also Wellbeck, Cleverly and the twins. All of whom are squad players at best. Not that there is anything wrong with that, as clubs as big as MUFC need just such players.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for players coming up from the academy system it is just that not many of them are doing so currently.

What MUFC really need is a mixture of such players, along side experienced top professionals that have been at the club for some time, and players at the top of their game in their respective position.

Most notably absent at the moment is a right back that can defend, and, perhaps more importantly, a striker that does nothing but score goals. It should be a reasonable 'given' that they have a semblance of a 'first touch' and a degree of positional sense (currently absent in the younger forward players).

I think he shouldve come on earlier.

Hernandez clearly wasnt having a good game, Rooney hasnt scored from open play since his rturn from injury (I tihnk) so I had a feeling we werent going to score again.

ps. was Berba on the bench yesterdy? If he was, surely he shouldve come on, was the perfect game for him second half i.e. 10 men behind the ball
