Kenneth to leave United!

Gary Kenneth has stated that he intends to leave the club for a fresh chalenge at the end of this season. His contract expires in the summer and he is free to sign a pre contract in January. I am not too bothered by this as I feel he has been poor for a while now. I would stick Sean Dillon in with Gunning for the rest of the season and let Kenneth warm the bench. I feel we should have players on the park that want to be at the club. I understand that Kenneth has been here for years but if you don't want to play for United then BYE BYE!

Thoughts?

If Celtic sign Gary Kenneth I'll start supporting Partick Thistle!

Conway left, Buaben left, Gomis left, but they left with dignity and praised the club, Kenneth has come out and said United are a 'feeder' club he wants to play for a 'bigger' club he seems to be a bit disparaging towards United - I have no problem with players wanting to move on to better themselves but when an average player comes out with the idea that he is bigger and better than the club then he is more than welcome to leave.

What makes this disappointing is that Kenneth is a self confessed Arab, surely he should be bigging the club up instead of saying that he has to leave, I fear that Kenneth will find that United will be the biggest club he'll play for - unfortunately for him the likes of Bristol Rovers don't get into cup finals or Europe very often.

At one point I thought GK was a future captain for DUFC, but a lack of concentration and inconsistency have let him (and us) down at times.

When GK is on his game he is a very decent SPL defender. And TBH I would have liked to have seen him stay at United and work on eradicating the silly little errors that plague his game.

If he could've done that at United, he could well have got a move to the championship and netted both himself and United some cash in the future. He is still a young player after all and time is surely still on his side.

From GK's point of view, I can understand that after 8 years at United he fancies a new challenge. You can't really blame anyone who wants away from the stale monotony of the SPL cartel and its dominance by two clubs from the same city. God knows, it bores me something awful at times too!

What I'm disappointed with is with his negative remarks about DUFC - esp the 'feeder club' jibe - in the media.

IMO that's not a good way to treat a club who has brought you through the ranks and made you a first team player. BTW, also disrespectful to the fans who shared the good times and bad times with you - oh, and paid your wages for 8 years!

It looks like a parting of the ways is the only outcome now. Despite the little flaws in his game, I like GK and think he has been a good servant to the club.

I hope he finds what he's looking for, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.

Personally I think he should've given United another couple of seasons - perhaps with a get out clause in his contract for any offers from championship clubs in England. but it's not looking like a happy parting of the ways for GK and the United support.

To be fair, Garry Kenneth has never been the brightest guy in the world, but to come out and say what he says borders on idiocy. Nobody blames him for moving on, but treat the club with the respect that it is due.

Not impressed.

Cyber, i agree with what you've said, probably couldnt have put it better myself so cheers!!! Its a shame it has to end like this but kenneth has been pretty poor so far this season maybe its better for both partys to go there seperate ways. Like you said the SPL is a pretty stagnent league and you cant blame the guy for wanting away, find it strange he's said what he has, think what some fans have been saying has maybe got to him.

This guy is a bit of a bafoon...i strongly suspect (and hope) that he has already been told he won't be getting new contract, and has come out with this nonsense to try and make it look he is the big man moving on to bigger things.

Honestly he has never been good. Webster carried him for a season and made him look 1/2 decent. Last year and this he has been pretty woeful and makes 2 or 3 howling mistakes per game.

Sad as he has all the attributes to have been a great player and with the poor centre half options we currently have for Scotland he could have been a regular. Like Diamond, had all the potential, maybe thought he had made it too young, and has turned out to be nothing more than wasted potential.

I am glad he is moving on and would hope we get 50-100K for him at the transfer window. Also If the OF even looked in his direction i would drive him to Glasgow myself and cover expenses....

It's a fair point that by far his best season was the one he spent alongside Webster. That was the year people were rumoured to be interested, and he could probably thank Webster for that.

He is, as said above, a decent SPL defender. So was David McCracken. No danger of ever seeing Kenneth on Match of the Day, unless he's in the crowd.

The boy has always believed he was much better than he actually is. Remember the reported Chelsea interest before Levein came in? Kenneth was the only person in Dundee who actually though it was true. A month later CL had loaned him out to Cowdenbeath to take him down a peg or two.

I will not miss him at all, we have a much better pairing in Dillon and Gunning. Fair play to GK though, he has played for the team he supports and lifted a trophy. I do however think he has been a little disrespectful.

Bye Gary

I have to say that GK hasn't been the same player since Andy Webster left the club. Webster was obviously well aware of GK's lack of ability on the deck and had him use what he is good at and attack the ball in the air allowing Webster to drop off and pick up any scraps.

To be fair he has played the occasional good game but sadly they are few and far between.

PH has openly said that if he wants a big club then he will need to up his game til Jan and put himself in the shop window. Having seen his last two games it wont be long before Downfield Juniors make an offer !!!

I agree with many others and say if he doesnt want to be at the club then GTF !!!
