Such a bad thing?

OK, i think I've got my head around the new steve kean contract that will also appease the anti kean mob. Under the new contract, two things can happen:

-Results improve. For example Kean takes us to mid table. Everyone is happy. Kean is earning his 25k per week and nobody had a problem with that because he is getting results

OR

-Results do not improve. Kean is sacked BUT under the new deal gets a smaller pay off then he would have done previously. Everyone is happy because Kean is sacked for poor results and gets less compo.

So how exactly is the new contract a bad thing. Either kean earns his money or he gets sacked and the club dont have to pay out as much when he gets the sack.

Hmm - meaningless EXCEPT to rile the fans for whom it is another unexplainable decision further alienating support for the manager and owners from the fans who pay the money to fund this contract.

We don't know whats in this contract - except that it is a pay rise therefore, like Pie says, it is odd to expect that Kean would sign such a contract - does even he believe the tripe he mentions?

Wow, if you actually manage to become an optician

Not sure why that was called for.

To answer your question, yes I would accept that deal if I was confident in my ability, which Kean clearly is.

Wow, because many things happen day to day, you may win the lottery, find something more interesting to do etc.

Can I advise you, if you make those decisions in life you'll be in a financial mess. I did take the time to point out that your imaginary opticians was demonstrating signs of failure, like Kean.

You'd have to be monumentally stupid to accept a deal that makes it easier to sack you!!!

"And who would begrudge him his 25K if he turns this season around and we finish in mid table?"

Not me, but I do begrudge him the money we've paid him to get us into this mess.

comment by PieEater - will be using the words 'fudge... (U3479)

But if he was that positive he wouldn't entertain being sacked, and instead of a salary increase why not agree an extra x amount per place up the league?

So Kean is rubbish at the job and should realise that and should just quit now, but when he "entertains being sacked" you have a go at him for that as well?

Basically, I think he could win you every trophy going for the next 10 years and you'd still criticise him.

The way you put it was aimed to wind me up, and you know that.

Football is a unique business and you couldn't compare it to any other line of work. Kean is sticking to his guns which is something i quite admire.

'If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs.'

If you like wow, if you like.

Football is unique in that performance and pay don't go hand in hand. I tried to make the optical comparison as simple as I could for you, unfortunately stupidity won.

And as for the quote, so brilliantly out of context that it just looks ridiculous. More akin to Kean keeping his head through lies and our owners stupidity whilst others are heading for the gallows...

New Wayne, it was in the response to the opening post. What I'm suggesting is he'd be stupid to sign a deal making it easier to sack him unless he's so deluded he thinks they wouldn't do it.

I've said from the start, I'd rather be praising Kean than criticising. I supported Sam whilst others bemoaned the style, I supported Ince for longer than most.

This appointment was ridiculous, the 'ambitions' of Kean and Venkys ahead of realism is plain ignorance, their reactions to fans is disrespectful and probably unlawful, the results on the pitch don't even need commenting on...

Two points. What is wrong with 'ambitions' and how have they been 'unlawful'?

Unlawful?

My god, you have come out with some ridiculous comments on here, but that takes it to new heights.

Ambition needs to be backed up with action. Unless Champions League is achievable with less than 10mil a year and an inexperienced manager.

Unlawful Wayne, their banning of anything negative towards Kean in the ground goes against freedom of speech.

You'll notice I said 'probably' (nicely ignored), not sure of the law but I'm pretty sure we live in a democracy...
