For the life of me I cannot understand this loan process.
I suppose it is something similar to those that don't except the semi-final G/Final elimination process because they were not brought up with it in the first place.....
The reason I find the loan process so difficult to understand is.....if a team feels he is worth either signing or developing from the academy then why on hell let another club get their claws into him and make him feel welcome and part of their out-fit.
To me it's equivalant to asking a thief to mind your jewels.........

Souths ..... the only reason i can think of to support it is;
You've got a young lad with what appears to be reasonable talent. Not quite good enough to be considered for the first team - but you don't want to just release them. So, you send them out on loan to a team that can use them.
Said player then (in theory) is good enough to make the starting 17 for the club taking them on loan. You as the parent club leave the liability for a kid in the hands of another club. If he's rubbish, then you release them, if they're good you have them under contract. in other words you're passing the trial and error phase to an opponent.....
Not sure if the above makes sense - or is right - but it's the best logic i can come up with !!!

Thanks 4ever, that's as good as an answer I have ever had over the years.
I can understand it if it was a rich club and no salary cap like years gone by but now the club risk heavy fines and it's a fine line between being under the cap and over it without having players playing elsewhere to worry about that are still on their books regardless of who is paying his wages...
The old days I could see this loan system working when you had your run on 13 & 2 reserves but today a team is more of a squad of 25 players with the bench being as much part of the team as the run on players plus the reserves for all the injuries that occur in a season....cheers & thankyou..

Souths .... no worries .... I'm not convinced i'm 100% correct, but i suspect for younger players it's not far from the truth........
