Yes i know what you're thinking, 2011 isn't over yet and there is still cricket to be played. however, i consider that any series that starts in december of any year is in fact part of the "winter" season, which will be counted in next year's team.
i have based this purely on stats, so we can argue about circumstances and context later.
1. AN Cook ENG(average 94)
2. IJL Trott ENG (62)
3. IR Bell ENG (97)
4. JH Kallis SA (92)
5. KP Pietersen ENG (70)
6. Misbah-ul-Haq PAK (74) (C)
7. MJ Prior ENG (54) (wk)
8. TT Bresnan ENG (27 Ws @18)
9. JM Anderson (52 @ 26)
10. DW Steyn SA (32 @19)
11. Saeed Ajmal PAK (41 @ 23)
so yeah, discuss
p.s. minimum requirement for bowlers: 25 wickets, for batsmen, 5 matches.

Perhaps pietersen, maybe misbah, maybe trott.
I think batting in a losing team is very difficult, motivation to carry on must be so hard.

1. Aliastar Cook (ENG)
2. James Taylor (ZIM)/ Mohammad Hafeez (PAK)
3. Rahul Dravid (IND)
4. Azhar Ali (PAK)
5. Jacques Kallis (RSA)
6. Ian Bell (ENG)
7. Matt Prior (Eng)
8. Dale Steyn (RSA)
10. Saeed Ajmal (PAK)
11. Jimmy Anderson (ENG)
If we play outside the sub-continent I'd play Taylor instead of Hafeez and have Kallis as my third seamer. Though, if we play in the sub-continent then I'd have Hafeez & Kallis as back-up bowlers.

amir, the only taylor who plays for zimbabwe is called brenden, not james.

lmao, sorry... I'm getting carried away with little Taylor of England.
My apologies I do mean Brendon... I don't know what his record is like, but I don't care, for a little while he was playing like Andy Flower... He scores big everyone else in the team collapses. And it happened on a number of occasions.

his average over 3 tests this year is 72, with 2 hundreds and 2 50s. i would have put him in the team had he played a couple more games, not that he could have being zimbabwean, but i don't think 3 games is enough to measure a player's form.

Understood, but only with Taylor I brought his ODI form into it too.
I just wanted a mixture of a team, if that makes sense. And, I had to put the Wall (Dravid), alongside Baby Wall (Azhar Ali)... I wonder what they would talk about whilst batting? Blocking tips more likely.

yeah like a friend of mine who instead of practicing his drives when he's walking out to bat, he practices his leaves...
