Liverpool won at Stamford Bridge for the second time in nine days on Tuesday night as they dumped Chelsea out of the Carling Cup in their quarter-final tie.
Liverpool started well and were comfortable, while Chelsea failed to make an impression on the game. As early as the third minute Chelsea thought they had a penalty after David Luiz went down under a challenge from Sebastian Coates, but the Brazilian was instead booked for a dive. Moments later, Andy Carroll was claiming a penalty which was also waved away by referee Phil Dowd, after he received a shove from Luiz.
But in the 21st minute, Liverpool did win a penalty. Jose Enrique sent in a cross from the left for Carroll, but Alex lifted up his arm and handled the ball. Carroll himself stepped up to take the penalty, but it was not the best effort and his shot straight down the middle was dealt with by goalkeeper Ross Turnbull. But Liverpool's heads did not drop, and finished the first half the better team.
In the second half, Chelsea were inches away from taking the lead as Florent Malouda's effort struck the crossbar before being cleared. But on 58 minutes the Reds took the lead, and never looked back.
Just like nine days ago, it was Maxi Rodriguez who opened the scoring. Jordan Henderson released Craig Bellamy down the right, and he raced forward before crossing it low for Rodriguez to tap in.
Five minutes later, Liverpool doubled their lead and Bellamy was once again the creator. The Reds won a free kick on the left which the Welshman crossed in, and Martin Kelly headed in at the far post for his first senior goal.
Lucas had to be stretchered off after he injured his knee in a challenge with substitute Juan Mata, and he was replaced by Charlie Adam. Chelsea searched for a goal to get themselves back in the game but Liverpool comfortably saw out the rest of the match to head into the semi-finals of the Carling Cup.

Cheers all, thanks for all your contributions
Quite funny that we've won as many matches at Stamford Bridge as we have at Anfield this season.
