Just reading the fixture lists. Less "never been there" and more "blimey, forgot they'd come down from the Prem". Reading a fixture list after a promotion is great, and an experience no Saint has enjoyed in over 30 years. Younger fans will have no experience of this, so just read and enjoy.
I have said many a time that I loved the last two seasons. Going to places never before visited, and meeting some top fans (Hartlepool were my particular favourite, but there wasn't much in it). Winning something at Wembley; gaining promotion; seeing some players mature and develop - Alex of course, but Lallana and Scheneiderlin are two of my favourites in this category; bringing in players who have got the blood flowing (Guly!). It's been great. But now it's Leeds at home in the first game. Oh yes, we're getting back to the big time.
Exciting, isn't it?

Well I was only born in 91 so first time I've read a fixture list after a promotion. Looking forward to it already, wanted one of the bigger sides at home for first game so happy with Leeds. September does look really tough though, so hopefully get quite a few points in August. In fairness reading the whole list it's looking quite hard. I will definitely take mid table next year, and finishing above the skates of course

It is, very exciting! Last time is lost in the mist of time, and when you consider it isn't that long since we were in the Prem, never mind the Championship, it shows how accustomed we've become to disappointment that just looking at the fixture list for the Champs gives us a lift!
It's been a long downhill road, of good players leaving, good managers leaving, poor football, poor opposition, poor decisions by the management, all very depressing, but we stuck with it and are getting our rewards now. There's a buzz about the place we haven't had for a while, and I don't know about you but I'm wishing my summer away so we can get on with the new season - sad person!
