Since the unfortunate injury to Lucas, there has been a fair ammount of debate as who should play the holding midfielder role. Should it be Gerrard or Spearing. For me it is a no-brainer.
Although Lucas is classed as a holding midfielder, a large part of his game is breaking up play in midfield. Also chasing down opposition players when they have posession and this (bless him) he will do all day.
Gerrard, however is not that time of player these days. In his younger days he did all the chasing and breaking up play, but not anymore. Now Spearing on the other hand is of the same mould as Lucas and a young Gerrard (I didn't say as good, but in the same mould).
Therefore it's Spearing and Adam for me and let Gerrard (when fit) or Henderson play off Suarez.
Just my opinion of course. Feel free to add yours.
Gerrard or Spearing

He did leave cos he wanted out due to him missing Italy, nothing to do with what the media reported, which player gives a t055 about what journo's think?!
Aquilani did ok when he played, he was tidy, his link up play was alright but he looked off the pace, was caught in possession far too often and didn't influence play enough in the final third. That was how I saw it, that is how a lot of people saw it. He was fine, but MOTM in most games he player? Behave.

You obviously give a toss as the media influenced yours and a lot of others' opinions on the player. However some people saw how he played and didn't let the media influence their thoughts and the stats and MOTM rewards he received certainly back up that thought process.

I didn't say he left due to what "journo's" were saying. Can you not read a comment and take things from it, read between the lines if you will? Maybe this is why the media so easily influence your thought process.
The media had portrayed him as a failure, which in turn had most of the UK believing he was and all this after having a pretty good first season in a new country after coming back from a long injury. After this he is loaned out. As I said who could blame him for wanting to leave?
I also didn't say he was MOTM in every match.
Christ, you are hard work.
If you're here for an argument, at least argue about the things I did say and not the things you've dreamt up.

I agree with you there that he is very hard work.
But in this instance he is very much right. Even in pre-season Aquilani controlled matches in the opposition half/final third. With assists and even the odd goal.
But yeah TOOR is very hard work. Aren't you babes? xoxoxoxo

I liked Aquilani and thought he showed glimpses of real quality, whether he is suited physically to the hustle and bustle of the premiership is open to question and probably will never be answered.
What I didn't like was the constant stories in the press linking him with a plethora of Italian clubs with quotes from his agent. Also, these mysterious virus' he contracted making him unavailable to play.
Aggers' is going to come down hard with all the unacceptable 'aqua talk'

Pre-season? He was good pre-season, no doubt. My issue isn't with that, my issue is with him saying that when he was fit, he produced MOTM displays, clearly he is talking about the tail end of the 09/10 season.
--------------
I know what he is talking about. I'm not as blind as TOOR claims. Hence why I said "Even in pre-season..."
And he did produce MoTM displays. I think he had 3 MoTM displays, 2 goals and 6 assists in 12 starts.
