Suddenly looks like a big, big mistake now with the sale of Meireles and injuries to Lucas and Gerrard.
I feel we never gave Aquilani a chance to play the Liverpool style like we did with Lucas and I feel he could eventually live up to his price tag but he's been treated unfairly and has had every right to be inclined to move away from Liverpool.
The benefit of Lucas's injury is we could possibly see the emergence of Spearing, Shelvey or Henderson particularly with the string of games we have til the end of the year (really should be hitting 15-16/18 points). Or we could possibly see some cash splashed on a new centre midfield in the summer. But it doesn't miss the point we'd be much better equipped with Aquilani.
Hope this somehow allows Maxi to get more games too he definitely deserves it.

I liked Aquilani but I do wish some fans would get over his departure. He didn't want to be at Anfield and got his wish and is now in Italy. Good player he may be, but he is completely ill suited operating as the teams defensive option in midfield. He's a player in the Alonso/Adam mould not a Lucas/Mascherano type player.

Liverpool's style of play relies heavily on off-the-ball tempo and although Aqua can dictate play really well he offers near nothing in this department, would happily still have him here though

I don't think that's the aim of this article to be honest. I'll suspected other since I seen his account, so far have been proved right. Let's see.

I just also get frustated at our response to player's saying they want to leave sometimes.
Just look at Modric. Tottenham refuse £40 mill for Chelsea despite begs and pleas to leave and now they're flying. Merieles hands in a request and he leaves for essentially what we paid for him.
We seem to have a 'If you whine, you can go' policy which is all good but it let's other players have the mentality when they leave plus it means we miss out on big bucks. I reckon we could've got £20 mill for Merieles.
I'm not Aquilani's biggest fan but I feel Liverpool can be very quick to judge and respond rashly.

Modric did a bit of moaning in the press, but he doesn't strike me as the type who would sulk at the club, that is why Spurs kept him.
If he had thrown his dummy out at the training ground and ruined training, Spurs wouldn't have messed about and he would be a Chelsea player. He is better than that, so he stayed.
I am not sure Mereiles (see his celebration against Arsenal), is that good a professional.
Dunno about Aquilani, but his reason to leave was not money like Mereiles, Modric.

I think Adam will have to fill Lucas' position with Hendo playing Centre Mid maestro.
While hes been playing really well lateley, Adam can be lazy and you really need a terrier in the DM role. Maybe Spearing but his passing at times is not good.
Maybe KK can bring in an out-of-favour DM on a pay-as-you-play contract until the summer ????
