The last formation works best for the crazy amount of CMs. You've also forgotten Henderson, I assume he's on the bench, so that would be Gerrard, Martinez, Meireles, Lucas, Adam and Henderson....too many.
Meireles surely has to start, so if he stays there wouldn't be much need for Martinez and Adam. One at a push, but certainly not both.
I'd keep Aurelio, he's a good player, just so long as he can remain fit.
I'd like to see us sign Mata and Lucas for the wings, and hopefully a better left back than Clichy.

The 6 players that you mention would undoubtedly improve our squad but the problem would be that they would cost close to £80 million? Don't forget we've already paid out for Henderson at £16 million, that's nearly £100 million!!!!!!!!!!!
