Football violence is a joke. You should be able to have a laugh/banter/abuse with opposition fans, without fear of it breaking out into a childish brawl.

I've said it plenty of times before on these boards - i spent many years (25 of them) in the forces, sharing beers, laughs and banter about our respective clubs. Never once saw it deteriorate into a bunfight. I tell a lie, only once. A scouser started laughing at the scenes unfolding at Bradford - so 2 of us just instinctively punched him. I know it was 2 - a bit cowardly - we both just reacted at the same time.

I believe many Millwall fans (and in fairness some of ours) wear the hardman badge of some sort of honour thing. Proper brave/hardmen are serving in Afghan, not having a ruck outside the Dog and Duck - they're just thugs.

To put balance on this .... i witnessed a group of our "fans" having a pop at a bloke and his daughter after the Barnsley game. The mounted police put themselves in between the Barnsley fella and the nutters having a go at him. Why? (i don't know if he mouthed off, but still i don't see the excuse to be honest). I and others near me found it an embarrassment.

Anyway here's hoping tomorrows game passes off without incident between the fans....... its just not the day for it.....

But they are really hard. They even wear Galatasaray shirts and wave Turkish flags at us. It's original and terrifying in equal measure.
