"United will hope that the success of their academy team, which made it to the final of the FA Youth Cup, will soon begin to filter through into the senior side.
Thanks to Mandaric, Wednesday are now on a sound financial footing, with an ability to compete in the transfer market that they have not had since the 1990s.
If the bookmakers are to be believed, both teams should be involved in the race for promotion come next May.
Owls and Blades everywhere will be praying that turns out to be the case."
.... everyone joining the queue outside Sheffield Cathedral to light a candle then? There's going to be a fair few of these "demise of Sheffield football" articles over the coming season..... looking at the cold, piercing reality of that line chart reinforces how much we've got to be thankful for now in comparison to the past 10 years. Reinforces how long we've been slumming it.... worth remembering recent teams of inadequacy including "Burrows, Harkness, Beswetherick, Owusu etc etc etc". All things considering... I'm happy to execute a little patience to haul the right players in.
