Sad news from the beautiful game

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16017071.stm

One of the greatest team never to win the WC.

Guess he'll have to watch Sandro and Damiao lift the CL/PL cups in Spurs shirts, from on high ...

A sad loss for football and so young too.

Socrates was an amazing talent, especially as he wasn't all that bothered about football!!

Socrates was a very good midfield player who could turn his hand to scoring goals on a regular basis.

For those of you who never saw him or the earlier Brazilians (50's, 60's & 70's and early 80's) play, think Barcelona with far more ball skills and variety!!

Indeed people often think of Brazil as just fancy dans, but they could mix it too especially when playing Uruguay & Argentina.

Pele was an unbelievable player and could score from impossible situations, it was sad to see him brutally kicked out of the 1966 World Cup by thuggish players.............

Sad news about Socrates. There's no doubt at all Brazil WERE the best team in the 1982 World Cup, so wanted them to win the competition.
