This has been done before no doubt, but good debate anyway.
Best Test XI the past 20 years.
Mine is as follows :
1 Hayden - He didn't caress the ball, he bludgeoned it.
2 Cook - Looks the perfect opener, will smash 30 tons +
3 Ponting - Bowl it where you like, he will smash it for 4
4 Lara - Best player ive ever seen.
5 Tendulkar - He wrote every shot in the text book.
6 Kallis - He could bat all day and night, Very underrated bowler.
7 Gilchrist - See Hayden
8 Warne - Best spinner ever . Great economy as well.
9 Donald - Savage beast of a bowler, fast fast fast.
10 McGrath - Mr Line and Length. Did he ever bowl a bad ball ?
11 Ambrose - Fast, Accurate, and Brutal.
I know the Cook inclusion will raise a few eyebrows, but he looks like he will break all Records going. Will be in these sort of XI's for years to come.
He is a seriously good player.
Best Test XI............

I'll just pick my favourites/best of the last 20 years
1. Hayden
2. Vaughan
3. Ponting
4. Sachin
5. Mark Waugh
6. Freddie
7. Gilchrist
8. Warne
9. Mcgrath
10. Walsh
11. Ambrose
Not the best but the players i've enjoyed watching over the last 20 years and they're bloody good players as well. What is suprising is the amount of oz in there. I must have forgiven them for the hammerings they dished out to our boys in the 90's and early 00's

Cant believe you don't have B C Lara in that team !!

Cook is surely the odd man out in the OP's team. He has some way to go before we put him up there. Replace him with Sehwag. The rest are fine. Steyn could fit in for Donald incase of a injury.
Dravid, VVS, Akram, Chanders, Murali competing for a spot too.

I selected Cook because of the form he is in at the moment. He was outstanding in Australia last winter, and i have a hunch he will dominate bowlers for years to come.
Sehwag was a close 2nd.
