Unlike previous flops/mistakes like Alberto Aquilani and Robbie Keane, Carroll has/needs time on his side. Liverpool can afford to keep Carroll waiting in the wings, with the likes of Suarez, Bellamy and Kuyt to pick from. Liverpool's style is very different to the Newcastle side that focussed on Carroll, and that means Carroll will have to improve different aspects of his game. We have seen in the past that players such as Lucas Leiva and Dirk Kuyt have developed their style to fit in. Carroll is no different.

very effective target men like kevin davies, zamora, etc didnt reach their peak till late 20s

Yep very true, I've often believed target men are better when they are older, just like GKs, CB's and DM's. It's a position where experience counts, where as wingers and strikers hit their peak younger when they are quickest and dynamic.

I thought Keane was perfect for us, it's just that Benitez didn't like us being open with Gerrard back in the center and so often took that out on Keane by playing Gerrard off of Torres. Was gutted when we sold him after only 6 months.

Didier Drogba didn't play top flight football until he was 25. He turned out okay.

Sorry Andy Carroll does not and will not fit into our style of football. The boy is missing Newcastle where there was no pressure on him to perform to the level of what is expected of him at Anfield and its evident tha the can't cope with it.
He is built like a brick outhouse but i don't see him hassling defenders like he was at Newcastle and on the odd occassion he begins to track back he gets booked because of his rash challenges. He also plays too deep.
He'll have to improve 100% if he is to stand a chance of being a decent player for us.

Yeah, that's right. Lets write the kid off. He's never going to make it.
Let alone that he's 22, an age that very few players get first team chances.
He has plenty of time, he is in a great place for his development, he is obviously thought of as a player with bags of potential by Kenny and others at the club and I'm very happy to defer to their judgement. Obviously you think you know more than them.
There are a load of idiots on this site, who will jump on a players back at the first sign of them not being up to an impossible set of standards.
He's played 898 minutes for Liverpool - that's the equivalent of 10 full games, and he's scored 5 goals. That is not a poor return.
I'm thinking about setting up a thread for Carroll haters to register their disapproval, because I have a feeling that you are all going to look pretty stupid in the not too distant future.
I expect it from the WUMs, but from people who claim to be Liverpool fans, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
I guess every club has it's plastics these days. What a shame.

He's got plenty of time. He's a goalscorer who hasn't settled is all.
Keane was a miserable flop. I still have a soft spot for him but he was dire.
Aquilani wasn't a flop. He was a quality player on the pitch for us. His signing was a mistake though due to regretting leaving Italy and mismanagment of him by our club.

Look, we all have opinions and some people wont like them. I think (hope) all LFC fans want A Carroll to be a huge hit and score 20+ goals per season, nothing would be better.
I cant see it, sometimes a player is signed and it doesnt work, of course I HOPE it does work but my opinion is he is too slow and Liverpool look too big for him. Hope i am wrong by the way.

As I said earlier he has had very little time on the pitch. I think it's a joke that so many people are writing him off this early.
Yes he hasn't slotted straight into the team. so what? Ian Rush had a slow start to his Liverpool career too.
He's 22 years old. Give him a break. people panned Lucas for two years and their now the same people who are calling him irreplaceable.
The man wears a red shirt. support him.
