Below par performance but important result in keeping the home form going and advancing in the competition. As for player ratings, here's mine:
ROD 6 competent enough when needed, no real complaints.
Tavernier 5.5 good going forward but defensively ? hmmm.. a bit iffy so far. Has enough pace to rescue some poor positional play but will get sterner tests than this and needs to improve that side of things.
Jones 6.5 Solid enough
Reda 7 probably our best player on the day
Bennett 5 another unconvincing display
Palmer 5. Disappointing. This was a real opportunity to show what he can do and he barely got involved.
Semedo 6 ok. Slow start but picked up second half.
Lines 5. Poor. A couple of decent dead ball deliveries but little else
Sedgewick 5 like Palmer, not involved enough.
O'Grady 6 a bit slow out of the blocks but improved as the game went on. No complaints about work rate and hold-up play but needs a goal.
Lowe 6 looked the most likely to score (and did!)
JJ 6 should have scored and the end result was sometimes a little comedic BUT he had more efforts on goal than the entire other midfield did jointly over 90mins and had the 'Shots defenders panicking every time he got the ball.
Prutton and Morrison weren't on long enough or invloved enough to give a fair rating.
Match Rating 3 . Mainly dull . Enough second half chances to have wrapped it up more convincingly but job done. Aldershot gave it a decent go and with a bit more attacking punch could have made life a lot more difficult for us.
Match Ratings v Aldershot

How can u give Tavernier a 5.5? He was our best player throughout and was the only one that looked dangerous going forward. I don't remember him being defensively poor.

JOC carries a lot of weight on his shoulders..
.. the fall guy was not playing..
..physchologically this as an affect on the other players...
.. especially at half time...
..' it were him boss '

In both his games for us his positional play has left something to be desired. He has enough pace to get himself out of trouble but that won't always be the case. Just because neither Orient or Aldershot were able to take advantage doesn't mean he didn't make mistakes. He also has a tendency to be over ambitious when getting froward and on more than one occasion has lost possesion in positions which left us exposed - fortunately with no consequence. I thought similar things about him when he played against us for Carlisle. In the first half he looked like somebody we could get at. In the second he pushed on more and had cover behind and caused us problems.
He looks promising, but needs work - just like most young players!

"most of his goals have been down to teammates not him"
Well, it is a team game!
I've not really had much chance to see him yet but from what I've heard from people who's opinions i'd trust he's doing fine & as Alf says his movement/inteliigence is very impressive indeed!
Sure he might lack pace but it didn't stop Teddy Sheringham playing at the very top level. (and no, I'm not saying he's as good as Teddy before folk start)

I think you're all being a bit harsh, it wasn't that bad a performance considering there were a lot of changes in the line-up and we got the right result.
Interesting questions about the loan players, I'm not sure if Meggy is happy to rely entirely on O'Donnel so unless Weaver's return is imminent will he keep Bywater? As for Semi, is he fit? And what is D. Jones doing these days?

D Jones is injured.
Semi is back in & around the squad but has been out for a while so won't be up to speed just yet.
Fairly sure that Oldham is Bywater's last game.

We need Bywater a bit longer..
.. apart from Carlisle away

Yes what I mean is he could never create something for himself, Marshall, Madine or even COG for example.

Most of his goals...... He's only scored 3!
