Just seen an interview with Jason Mcateer about our current problems and he took the chance to through his support behind OC. I still think OC is the man for the job, and as I implied in the "squad comparison" post below, I think people severely underestimate the effect of the injuries.
Even with our finances as poor as they are, the squad needs help. CYL and Holden haven't even been half replaced and the lack of quality in our defence this season has been staggering. When all these players return, we actually have a very good squad for a club of our size. Problem is by the time they return, it could be too late.
We have a lot of players out of large contracts like; Sean Davis (circa 26k) and Steinsson (circa 22k) come summer, and I think the board needs to give Coyle an advance on the money for January. Added to that, we will most likely see Cahill leave for £7M-ish in January, the board need to give Coyle 3-4M of that to help find a replacement and improve other areas.
So how do we spend whatever money does get thrown our way? Well I would like to see 2 loans to cover Holden and Lee until they get back. I would also like to see whatever money available for buying players outright spent on defence. When you look at all other area's of the squad minus injuries, there actually quite strong. A replacement for Cahill is obviously a must. Onuoha has been touted by many, and the press has also linked us with Ream and Rhys Williams. I would like to see 2 CB's brought in and a LB. Mears and Ricketts coming back with young Riley gives me enough confidence in that side. Robbo, Gardner and Alonso doesn't on the other hand. I haven't seen much of Alonso so it would be unfair to cast any major opinions, but he hasn't looked that amazing in the games he has played.
My Ideal January:
Out:
Cahill 7M
Kakuta (Returned) I don't get why Coyle hasn't played him, but must be a reason.
In:
Ream £2M
Onuoha £2.5
Mceachran Loan (Part of Cahill deal to Chelsea)
Ryo Miyaichi Loan
Ezekiel Fryers Loan
Ryo and Ezekiel have looked very good talents at both Arsenal and Man U. IMO this could leave our squad looking strong going in to the new year.
--------------------------Jussi
Mears----------Ream-----Onuoha-----Fryers/Ricketts
Eagles-------Reo-C-----Mceachran----Ryo
------------------Klasnic----Ngog
The questions are; will the board back Coyle and Bolton and will the right players be brought in to deal with it. Any other ideas on the issue?
Season Defining January?

All 6 from Barca's B team then?

Dan three of that back 4 are coyle signings. As you say championship bound. If people think steinsson is bad wait till meats gets fit he is no better. Alonso did not get robbo out the team last season which says everything.
Tuncay and kakuta annoy me. No one can deny we have been awful 95% of the season. Whyhave these guys not been given a chance. If they are awful in training yet others better you have to ask what do they do or see in training as a coaching staff. Because what then turns out on the pitch has been massively wrong. Maybe they should ask themselves are we doing the right things in not picking these two. Can they be worse not really. We just seem to lose regardless. They might be better offering fans a chance to play rather than run in a ball. Could we do worse maybe scoreline but at least fans could give it a go.

Excellent article Woody.
I reckon we would go for either Onuha or Ream, not both. Personally, I have never heard of the LB and I fully expect that we are expecting Alonso to fill in for that role.
I have also heard rumours that Frimpong from Arsenal wants a loan move to us, not sure how true this is though.

Do we still have Ream on trial? A loan deal on Jan 1st after giving him a small break might not be unreasonable.

Like the idea of frimpong but this season is not the one to be developed by bwfc. Ask kakuta. He has also broke into arsenal first team and while whilshire is injured he may not be allowed out

We weren't doing well when Wilshere came in ......

However, it was Coyle who turned that around.

Frimpong is allowed out on loan they are saying Wolves are heading the list of takers wouldn't mind giving the lad a chance looked tidy when i watched him early season better tackler and passer than both NRC and Muamba

Excellent article - thought provoking and offered some ideas on how we can improve post January.
I think the loan signing of Miyachi would be a great move - he is an excellent prospect. However as i have used the word 'prospect' there i think i would be more inclined to snap up Frimpong. This lad has some premiership and champions league experience and has looked a top class player every time i have seen him play. He is a work horse in midfield and is good on the ball - could be the all round midfielder we are lacking and to be honest we could do worst to pair him up with Mchrechran at Chelsea although as already mentioned i am not sure this would be allowed due to the loan restrictions. If we can manage to sign Onnahua, Ream and Frimpong i would be happy. At the end of the day its not like we are not capable of scoring goals so if we can sort out our defensive problems we should be able to pull clear in the second half of the season.

Our defence is so bad at the minute, all our goals can be put down to poor defending t the weekend.
Two goals Klasnic was at fault not attacking the ball at the front post to clear it and instead lazy tried to poke away resulting in two goals.
The Lennon goal just showed how poor TE set of players we have at the minute.
Steinsson let Lennon turn onto his right foot too easily, as a defender Steinsson should know that Lennon is right footed and should look to send him out wide rather than turn in so easily. Then Boyata and Robbo gave him too much room despite him being less than 5 yards from them and Zat Knight just watched on and isn't attempt to move.
Reo Coker reaction sai it all, turned round and shouted at them, the poorest set of defenders we've ever had and that goal must be an eye opener for every one saying Coyle has poor tactics, the poor quality of the defenders who find themselves in the team are ruining us.
