I feel quite blessed that at the age of 24 I got to grow up supporting united alongside the emergence of the class of 92.
Since I've supported united many players have come and gone, we've had leaders in the likes of Cantona, we've had rock solid defenders and arguably some of the best defensive partnerships in the world but the greatest part of it all was that we got to win the treble and many titles with "kids" the emerging talents that was Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Nevilles and Butt.
I'm just trying to picture what it would be like now for young kids to start supporting United and to remember why we fell in love with them. Was it because of established star signings, or signing young gems such as ronaldo and rooney. I'm too young to remember, so were you angry when more experienced players were moved on and not replaced with star studded signings and instead we went with youth (Beckham and co) or were you excited that we had a plethora of young talent coming through?
I think we're so spoiled by success that we should remember why we loved United in the first place, for me it's not all about winning titles, but being able to watch youngsters turn into men on a football pitch and gracing us with their talent. Giggs done it 20 years ago, I really believe that in time wether it be this season or next, Morrison can take a similar path, he has the talent for it and I think when he plays alongside players on his wavelength of thinking then we might see a lot more out of him.
A possible young team in the next couple of years with some experienced players could be something like:
------------De Gea------------------
Rafael, Smalling, Jones, Fabio
Nani Cleverley Morrison Young
---------Rooney Welbeck---------
or
-------------De Gea---------------------
Rafael Smalling Jones Evans/Zeki
----Cleverley Carrick Morrison---
-------Nani Rooney Welbeck-----
Either way you get the jist, young fans growing up now could potentially grow up supporting a team with the same nucleus of players as I did with the likes of Giggs etc. And I haven't included the likes of Anderson, Hernandez, Macheda and possibly Pogba maybe even Pettruci.
Morrison seems highly rated by all at united and Rio tweeted that he was taking his seat to watch his boy Morrison play so that speaks volumes. I did wonder when Giggs came on against Villa whether or not it could soon be Morrison taking on that role coming on as a creative sub. Whilst one player is in the twilight of his career it would be a fitting tribute if he could be replaced by someone next year who many at united claim to be the most naturally talented player to come through since him.
I'd rather the next lot of united fans grow up falling in love with united that way, than take city approach as some fans on here have expressed their desires with 30m signings

Also some sort of protection for the starlets of smaller clubs

This is a big issue, especially consider that league clubs recently had to sign a new law which will allow big clubs to snoop around and buy their youngsters for pennys or they would have sponsorship taken away from them.
I think the idea of clubs running on their own profit is fantastic, but when for example Barca and Madrid sell their own TV rights and earn what other clubs in their league do 10 fold, this will never be fair.
The current FFP rules will benefit in particular Man Utd who are the most profitable club in the world, but unfortunately the Yanks bleed a lot of that money to pay those loans off.

Thats true, but to be honest if they succeed in paying them off then it could be a very daunting prospect matching United in the transfer window.
As far as the young kids go, I didn't realise they had signed that agreement, who's ridiculous idea was that, at least with the system at the moment, a club that needs money can sell their star young player to get good money that might help keep their club afloat, or use the money to buy 3 or 4 players for a promotion push a bit like Southampton did with that Chamberlain.
If that agreement has been signed then that will just make football an even bigger monopoly in terms of what teams remain at the top.

Younger than that

The thing is, footballers and agents are not going to take wage cuts. So if so many clubs need to cut spending, yet increase both spending on wages and transfers, where is this money coming from?
It's a big big worry and UEFA should have thought a little more clearly, put wage caps on players salaries with the possibility of inflation rises but then the lawyers would argue this in court.
The you have clubs selling assets, stadium names, extra sponsors on kits (our DHL deal) rules bent (Cities airline deal).
I'm afraid the FFP rules are just not going to work.

I agree. Its potentially an okay idea that needs refining I think, but I also dont believe that FIFA will have the balls to eliminate someone like Barcelona/Real Madrid if they fail to meet the regulations.
If I could predict what is going to happen, I think an example will be made of a smaller club in the CL, e.g Dinamo Zagreb, or someone of similar stature, that way FIFA will create an illusion that they are doing something about the money in the game but in reality its a cloud cover and the money flow will carry on as normal.

I feel blessed to have grown up a generation before the O.P.
We had legendary players back then, but Utd were considered bad, a sleeping giant, a cup team at best.
But having grown up in the era of the arrogant pool fans and arsenal fans, it makes it even sweeter today, that they bow down to Utd as they witnessed us become the Most Successful team in England.
Long may it continue.....

SAF joined United when i was 1
Like most i've never known anything other than SAF at United and it will be sad when he hangs up the hair dryer but it will be an exciting time to be a United supporter with a new gaffer coming in, what will his playing style be? what about his transfer policy? will he give the young players a chance and most importantly will sections of our own support give him the time he needs to do well?
That is an issue that most United fans under the age of about 40 won't have experienced before, welcoming a new manager and giving him 5,6 or 7 years to show what he's made of.

will be a watershed moment for many United 'fans' under 30. If it does take time to gel then hopefully the plastics will drift away.

Well hopefully, that's why i used the term fans rather than supporters, the supporters will always be there, the rest will become City 'fans'.
