Gary Neville Big Upping the Mighty Spurs

Anyone see his analysis of our game at the weekend.

he highlighted how all our players were giving 100% effort, whether closing the ball down, making runs, bursting forward to get up with play, tracking back.

The word most used was Desire.

It was very interesting to see how much effort we were putting in, even in fairly simple situations in the middle of the park, players bursting forward in to space and attacking positions.

What struck me at the game was the example of Defoe who at 3-0 with 5 mins to go amnd the game won, he was chasing Bolton players down, in our half and putting in tackles....again, total desire.

I think that we are now in a position where the players are thinking.....we could really do something very special this season....and they are really going for it. With the bulk of our first team having played nothing but league games, we could be in good shape come the second half of the season when others have European commitments.

harry has to take great credit for this too. We have adjusted our style slightly and see lennon and Bale coming inside a lot more, a lot harder to close down or double mark, giving space for the FBs to overlap.

We have really stepped it up this season...both the manager and the team.

I would hope that these professional athletes could manage 90 minutes of running around at least twice a week

Neville is spot on.

club, Lennon and Defoe trying to recapture their form of 2009-10 in the runup to the Euros, KingStrikes me that a lot of the lads have a feeling that they have something to prove this season - Adebayor with the City issue, Parker proving that he can cut it at a big , Gallas and Friedel proving that they are still top class despite age and injuries, Modric after the Chelsea fall out and Walker staking a claim for the England Right Back job... Even Harrold wanting to go out with a bang in what is probably his last season as a Club manager...

Any team could get injuries, and injuries to key players will affect every team...its impossible to speculate.

What is important is that we don't get lots of injuries to kep players all at the same time. We can cope with the occasional missing player.

We missed Modric the other day and won away at WBA. We have missed VDV on a number of occassions and kept winning. King too.

MOTD needs new pundits, Hansen is ridiculously boring. How in god's name they get paid so much for the rubbish they say? It is always defense was diabolical, defender X needs to be here to cover/track back. Or they were brilliant going forward etc. I am sure we all know and don't need a reminder.

They need to do better analysis!
