I feel this needs to be said after the, frankly, hysterical, reaction to our defeat last night.
We lost, our first away defeat in 8 games. Hardly something to lose sleep over, especially when you consider our away record from the previous two seasons. We still played well enough in my opinion, the improvement in the style of play is there to see.
I suppose what is the most irritating is that many of thefans writing the regime off are the same people saying we need to be patient. It's this swinging of opinion from one polar opposite to another that is wrong with the modern football fan. The manager hasnt been in charge for 12 months yet, and his tenure has been written off. His signings less than half a season at the club written off (probably the same pillocks that wrote off Lucas and Kuyt before him).
We all like to slate the previous regime for abandoning the Liverpool way. I think its time for some to practice what we preach. We aren't Spurs or Newcastle. We don't sack the manager after a bad run of form and ultimately enjoy next to no success for decades on end.
Remember where we where 12 months ago, compare that with now. Yes we aren't title winners, and even top 4 may be a bit of an ask too far. But when you consider this time last season we were churning out the worst football in the league and with serious fears of not being a million miles away from the relegation battle, our top players wanting out, we've come a long way.
It's ludicrous to EXPECT us to after one full transfer window suddenly turn that completely around. We are moving in the right direction, that should be enough for now.
Short term, no time!

You are playing well Captain. But you were doing just as well under Jol a few seasons back and he got sacked after half a bad season. It took you three it four seasons following that to get back into the similar position you are in now

its a good view.
I would add that we are seeing good things like carragher getting dropped and tactical flexibility.
we also have 7 players in and deadwood out.
That said overall (not kneejerk) it is quite fair to say that some players and perofrmances have actually let kenny down.
we can all forgive skertl and adam for stupidity v spurs, they've worked hard since to get better and their performances seem to have improved radically over the past two months for instance.
can we forgive carroll for his work rate though? hmmmm.
In the end two transfer windows have passed since the butchery of G&H ended. We got rid of 95% of the really bad players, have seen young players like lucas, kelly and others step up to the plate, bought 7 players in and i really cannot see how bar having citys billions any more could have been done.
the thing is it took city 3 years to get there even with the money and they had to sack a manager and prob knocked themselves back.
If 6 months ago someone would be saying that johnson would be back after so many injuries to where he is, skertl and agger would pair up so well and enrique would be a resolution to the left back slot no-one would believe you would they?
People are right that the lack of goals is a problem but it was always going to be when we had to bring in bellamy on a free on the last day, getting anyone with talent requires the cart to be before the horse if you are not in the CL. to put carroll on the bench requires us to replace kuyt with a top striker and thats not going to happen easily.
