Steve Kean averages 0.91 points per game in his current job, Martin Jol averages 0.92.
Funny that, for men of near identical records, Kean seems to be getting a bit more stick than Jol. The Fulham fans didn't abuse him on Monday night when they played Liverpool and guess what....Fulham won.
Kean out though... obviously
Kean vs Jol

"I have just explained why this happened, and it wasn't unintentional."
I have no doubt...
Why don't you include Jol's previous Spurs tenure then - thats relevant to consider, no? Shows why people might expect Jol to turn a season round.
Include Kean's past history too in the PL if you like.

Rover the hill
I just corrected myself...it WAS unintentional..
I won't include Jol's spurs record (are you sure it was that great anyway) for lots of reasons, namely that he managed them at a different time in the premier league era altogether...playing against different clubs etc.
Kean has only been in charge for 12 months so I think it is fair that we can compare his past statistics in a present-day context. relegations, promotions and a few transfers aside, it is fair to say that Kean took over in the modern premier league era.

There's even a case to argue that Jol managed spurs in a time when the premier league was severely weaker than it is now (by looking at the fact that english teams in europeans competitions were less sucessful in the era that he managed spurs i.e. early to mid 2000's)

...severly weaker and also less competitive. Compare how many teams were competing for the top 4 in 2004 with the number of clubs competing for the top 4 this season...

"It isn't fair to assess the season of two managers after only 13 games if there are more game stats to consider, hence the reason why I defend Kean this season."
As it isn't fair:
Jol's Premier League Stat: 1.44 per game
Better than Kean!
Or take this seasons stat:
Better than Kean
Or Kean's record hand picked Vs Jol's ignoring the odd victory:
Jol > Kean

Thanks for completely ignoring my previous 3 posts.
Seeing as you've caught the 'facts stats' bug, here's some more:
Total market value of playing squad:
Blackburn Rovers: £67m
Fulham: £95m
(source: transfermarkt.com)
Despite your above attempt, you can't deny that Kean and Jol have SIMILAR points per game stats at their current clubs. The fact that Kean is anywhere near Jol in this respect (taking into account the better value of Jol's squad which implies that he has more money to spend) is reason enough for me to encourage you to GET OFF KEAN'S BACK.
cheers

Also, Pie, again you are completely missing the point. My point is NOT:
'Kean is a better manager than Jol.'
It is:
'Observe the similarity between Kean and Jol's points per game record at their current clubs. Taking this into account, and the extra money Jol has available to spend....it doesn't make sense that Kean gets so much hateful abuse while Jol gets none. Either lambast Jol for doing a bad job (which he isn't) or GET OFF KEAN'S BACK!'

(That should read:
*either the fulham fans should lambast Jol - which they don't because he is doing a decent job OR we should GET OFF KEAN'S BACK)

Good concise post.
What are Kean and Jol's stats for the season or their complete time as a premier league manager?
Plus what is the squad value based on?
As Rovers finished 10th under Sam compared to Fulham's 12th wasn't our squad better?

I don't know the ins and outs of what the value is based on but transfermarkt is a respected source http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/
The stats are points per game for the length of time they have managed their current PL club.
And on the last question, rovers finished 10th in 09-10 I'm not going back that far for the reason I gave earlier (the further you go back, the more difficult it is to compare managers records due to changes in the quality of the premier league through different eras)
