Chelsea big club really ?

i keep hearing this nonsense that chelsea are a big club i'm sorry but they are not, they were nothing without roman abramovich the clubs i consider to be big clubs are ourselves, liverpool ( i hate to admit that ) arsenal, aston villa and everton, they will never be a big club, before their owner arrived they were a small club that was always mid-table but all of a sudden their owner comes in and steals our transfer targets, for example arjen robben was on the verge of joining us he looked around carrington until the russian employed peter kenyon our former chief executive and they eventually signed him, another example was john obi mikel signed for us but he wanted to join the small club and we got a decent fee for him. i wish people would stop calling them a big club because they are not one, one more thing i don't like their manager andre villas boas, he keeps having a go at gary neville just because the former united defender criticised one of his players, asat least the former united captain played rthe game unlike the chelsea manager, oh and ''avb'' as chelsea fans like to call him is an arrogant idiot he thinks he's made it, football doesn't work like that.

thoughts ?

I don't understand why people harp on about big club small club. Doesn't change how well the team is doing on the pitch. redevilmatth, you may not consider Chelsea a big club but it doesn't change the fact that Chelsea are consistently a title contender, consistenly in the latter stages of the Champions League and topped the group yesterday.

this article shows that the OP is talking botox

before roman arrived we
1 broke into top 3 making it the "big 4"
won the F.A cup twice along with the league cup, charity shield and cup winners cup, followed by a Super cup!
all of this in the years leading up to our takeover.

I don't see why people concern themselves with this sort of stuff, it's sad to say it makes some people associated with Manchester United look very shallow and reflects poorly on United as a whole. Chelsea are actually quite a big club, they have a history of winning some trophies, of epic encounters that are recalled from the past, of success and failure. If people are talking about them and have taked about them for the past 60 years then I'd suggest they are quite a big club.

United have everything going for them, trophies, past successes, current successes, wealth, fame, top players, World Stature, we are fortunate at United to have what we have, no need to belittle others, we should stand above that!

Thank you Blue.

I can sort of understand why Asenal, Spurs, and l'pool fans may sink to such sad depths, because they have nothing else to shout about. Little or no recent success, very distant past success; one of the few things that helps them feel better about themselves is to belittle others and claim they are big/bigger clubs.

However there is no need for United fans to stoop so low, we are in a privilaged position with no need to abuse that position.

I suspect some say this of Chelsea because they constantly pose a threat, something that Arsenal have not been for several years!

personally i like to be, like yourself more passive and logical when it comes to football.

i am not a fan of wumming, bit of banta is fine but further than that is just silly.

one of my first articles on here was asking people to say something nice about another club... some did and some got the knives out....

it is nice to see a fan of another club (rival club at that)
who you can have a football convo with and not just back and forth point scoring.

good luck tonight!

I think any team's fans who feel the need to chant "we support our local team" constantly at OT during their annual visit can quite comfortably consider themselves as representing a 'small' club.

Perhaps whiteside has a point, perhaps the smaller clubs are the ones that don't catch the attention and/or support of people from a wider circle, nationally or internationally. However I still don't find we gain any qudos by belittling other clubs!
