Well done Ryan Giggs on equalling Swindon Town's John Trollope for making the most appearances for an individual club in all competitions, with Giggs appearing in his 889th match for Manchester United tonight. A British record and only 13 games short of equalling the World record set by AC Milan's Paolo Maldini. A fantastic achievement in the modern game and one that is unlikley to be repeated. Giggs is a true footballing legend.

Let's be fair here; who can't?

Giggs, Maldini and Trollope
(Trollope, ............... Has'nt Giggs had a few of them )

Why do people always say "Unlikely to be repeated"?
What exactly are you basing that statement on, seeing as you also mentioned at least one other player in the modern game who has played more than Giggs?

There will be no wild celebrations if he surpasses Maldini's record for Gigg's.
A quiet, discreet meeting with a family member is more his style.

Trollope is still seen around the County ground from time to time on match days but after his mammoth stint for Swindon he became a postman but kept his eye in with football training sessions for the youngsters of the Town along with Don Rogers another Swindon favourite . Can't imagine giggsy ending up as a postie though !

Congrats Giggsy, took one hell of a player to break John's record, I don't think we'll see many more players break it.

A good post, but let down IMO by a load of rear ends.
John Trollope was a stalwart. A guy that every side wants. He played the same every game, you knew what you would get from him.
Giggs, no doubt, is a more talented footballer, but does have his off days. Credit to him that the on days have compensated. Being in Div 4, on balance, I'd rather have a Trollope than a Giggs in our side.
