Evening Brewers, noticed you have a big game this weekend v Crawley. A positive result for you would certainly help you ( and Swindon ! ) to maintain the pressure on the top three.
How do you rate your chances of getting something down in Surrey ? You have taken points off most of the top half teams already so I won't be surprised if you manage it again Saturday. Steve Evans is not the most popular manager in our league, which most of it he has brought upon himself so i hope you go down there and give him something to think about.
All the best.
Notts.
Big games

Not that optimistic Notts Red (I am a football pessimist by nature though). The Crawley home record of 8 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat with 24 goals scored and 9 conceded speaks volumes.
Furthermore, I read earlier in the week that Billy Kee is doubtful. Justin Richards is still out. I dare say we would play 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 at best.
We are not the best at defending and rely on playing 4-4-2 and being capable of scoring loads when Billy Kee and / or Justin Richards are playing. I rate Calvin Zola very highly but in the main he will make things happen for others. When our 2 main 'others' are out injured we may struggle.
Win, lose or draw for me it does not matter. We are not halfway through the season, we will still be in the top 7 at 5pm regardless of the result and we can always beat them at our place to make amends.
Swindon are doing very well at the moment. I am sure that you will be in the top 3 in May.
Thank you for continuing to show an interest in the Brewers JA606 page. It is great that you are on here with us debating League 2 football.
Incidentally, I was at that Swindon match in 1993 when they beat Birmingham City 4-6.

Otep, feel exactly the same as you mate. Regarding Steve Evans(Nottsred) he has been well known to us since his days as manager of Boston United. We played them in the Clough era and we were either in the Unibond or Beazer Homes league. It was an FA Cup tie and after we drew 1-1 at York Street and he labeled us a "pub team" plus other vitriolic comments, well we shoved the words right back down his throat when we beat them in the replay at the old Eton Park ground. He didn't seem to impressed when the fans chanted "we're just a pub team" ! Since then we've had several run ins with him and if i remember rightly he got dismissed to the stands when we beat Crawley on route to the BSP title !!!

Otep, I as i was still playing a bit in the mid 90's i wasn't at the Birmingham game but lots of Swindon fans still talk about it ! I do scan through some of the other leagues on here but most of the bigger sides fans seem to spend most of the time slagging each other off.
There are lots of twists and turns ahead for both our teams but it's a good feeling right now being close to the top and a gap is starting to develope below 7th place to the chasing pack.
Still think you may get something this weekend but agree it won't be made any easier if you are missing Kee and Richards.

Well with our leaky defence Notts i cant see us getting much and if our strike force are injured it could be curtains for us.Yes terrace i can remember that animal Evans saying that about us it was when we were in the Unibond division.I am sure the lads will do there best and if we come away with a point i will be more than satisfied.

Emnez, talking about animals we are playing B.Rovers tomorrow. Don't mean the team, they have some real idiotic fans who are always hell bent on causing mayhem whenever we play them. For that reason I won't be taking my lad along to the match as its never worth the hassle of trying to keep out the way them.
We have Matt Ritchie, arguably our best player missing tomorrow but I'm still hopefully we can keep our unbeaten run going with at least a point.
Congratulations to Billy for getting player of the month, is he definitely out along with Richards for your game ? All the best and hope you wipe that smug smile off Evan's face.

Not long back, the rovers fans didn't let my prediction of their behaviour down !
Thought the draw was just about right although we had more half chances than them. Always feels more like a defeat when your so close to the win but happy with the point.
Going to Crawley with a depleted team was always going to make it tough but it's another away game out of the way. We are both at the right end of the table with still plenty of points to play for and with the christmas period coming the games will come thick and fast.would be interested to read any reports from any of you guys who made the trip to Crawley. Paolo had a bit of a rant after the game so the vultures waiting for him to fail will no doubt be happy.
All the best lads.
