...about the failures on the pitch of Manchester United.
So I am not going to do so now.
However, I am a bit disturbed about the comments I am reading from United fans who think the Europa League is worthless.
Sure it is not the CL, but unfortunately you are in it now. I would expect United fans to want their team to win every game they play, yet I am reading comments about wanting to get knocked out because it is not worth it!!!
I don't get the idea that not being in the EL will help the PL push, if United had qualified for the CL knockout stages then they would have far more difficult matches to contend with than they now have being in the EL. So in a way, being in the EL actually helps the club.
I may be missing something here, but I think United fans should embrace the competition and look forward to a possible final in Bucharest (I think). Rather than deride it as not worthy and beneath us...
I very very rarely gloat....

We have both drifted off topic, I agree. Why do you keep calling me a tool? Anyway, I got back on topic with my last, let's try and keep it that way eh?

The retirements did not occur out of the blue, Fergie had ample time to plan. The question is did he plan well?
Only time will tell whether De Gea is the answer to VDS but apart from the odd error he's shown a lot of encouraging signs.
We have enough options in central defence. But it'S the full back positions either lacking quality or competition. Take Evra, a few years back he could rightly be regarded as the best in Europe but now? He just looks disinterested.
We still do not have a regular right back. And with the Da Silva twins constantly picking up injuries we will have to rely on both Jones and Smalling to fill in. They are not natural full backs.
As for the midfield. Where do I start?! Ando was supposed to be the new scholes but he is anything but a pale imitation, not a good one for that matter. Not a goal threat, cannot thread a pass. He is far too inconsistent.
Nani and Young have gone off the boil. The imagination and unpredictability in Nani's game has disappeared since the City game.
The lack of goals in the last 6-7 games is indicative of the general malaise within the side. It is functional, barely, and sorely lacks that enterprising, expansive, free flowing football we have grown accustomed to.

I do not know what made him walk out. It may have been a smokescreen from Fergie, to deflect attention away from his side. A classic Fergie diversionary tactic perhaps.
With so many retirees, this season was always going to be transitional. The bright start was a bonus and sadly it may be our only highlight of the season.
Fergie needs to establish why his experienced players have under performed so badly. Is it a case of blind faith towards players who have served him well in the past?
Fergie knows what is lacking in the team or does he?

According to you, you have an encouraging keeper, a good centre back partnership (even though your main man is injured!), a disinterested LB, no RB, nothing decent in CM, off-form wide players and nobody who can score! And to top it of, you play boring football!
Wow! Your assessment is imo true, it must be horrible to be a Man U fan at the moment!

You seem to be questioning Fergie. I do too.
Unfortuantely I have to go now, look after my thread for me please .
No doubt we will cross swords again...

Well we are not doing cartwheels that's for sure.
Far too many are performing below the standards they set themselves. I still think we have yet to get over the City thrashing. In fact the functional football is the product of that result. All out attack replaced by conservatism.

BillyBob you really don't understand how hard done by us United fans are...

An honest assessment of my side's recent trials and tribulations.
These are genuine searching questions I am asking. Not just to humour you, no doubt our plight is giving you immense satisfaction just like the rest of the ABUs.

I agree completely. In fact I said pretty much the same in another thread before the CL defeat...United need to win games now, regardless of the performance. City have turned United into a boring team. As ugly as that sounds to United fans, imo it is true.
And now I really have to go...

I have read very few of these. It is a competition we don't want to be in, yes, but most of the United fans I have seen on here, and all the ones I know, would like us to win it.
It would complete the set.
