is the amount of Manchester United supporters that moan like hell when our form/performance levels dip. The amount of glory hunters, which has been made even more clear after the exit of the Champions League on Wednesday. All i have heard is moaning and 'ahhh Rooney isn't even that good', 'ahhh our whole team isn't good enough', 'ahhh now Vidic is out, we'll struggle to get fourth''
Yes as the moment we are playing some terrible football, but rule out SAF at your peril.
Our club has gotten so used to winning numerous trophies the past 15-20 odd years, but this does not mean that we will win everything, or even anything at all, every single year. Our supporters have been spoiled the last few years and it hurts me when I see supporters that ridicule and bad-mouth their own club and manager or even players.
The bottom line is, yes we are on a poor run of form, YES we are out of the champions league.
On the other hand, we are 2nd in the league whilst playing all the top 8 sides already.
We have the FA cup to look forward to, albeit against City, but who knows what will happen. I hate the supporters that have already written Man Utd off.
We have the Europa League, yeah channel 5 and all that. But we might as well make a go of it?
The only trophy Sir Alex, or the club has never won.
What the club need is backing, not supporters saying they won't turn up or even watch Europa league games. Not supporters who want Sir Alex out.
Also, why are some supporters fixated on the point that we must emulate Barcelona, or play like Barcelona? yes they play beautiful football. We are our own team. We play the way we have always played. We don't have to copy anyone else.
Support the club. Support United.
Wums you can off
What really annoys me...

Believe it or not, I'm in London ATM but that's because it's the capital with the most lucrative jobs on offer. My dad moved us here from Manchester in the late 90s just for that reason. He's only protecting us of course and looking after us where the money is mostly at. I've got a lot of Man Utd supporting friends here who are all cockney born and alot of them have the reasons of supporting united because they are fond of the colour red. However this isn't a modern thing, I've read London has had a reputation for the residents supporting the northern clubs. Liverpool fans are quite a lot around here too, I've seen bald cockneys with LFC joe cole shirts around west London I've attended away games whenever I can afford tickets as Im in education ATM and no jobs are on offer

The second type, these are the ones calling for change, for mass spending on players (they often know little about), questioning the club on pretty much every level. These are also the ones that often don't know who you are playing on the weekend, sometimes don't even know you're playing that night. The typical glory supporter. Never even been close to Old Trafford.

And you can spot these types a mile off on 606.

Then a few years ago it suddenly became Chelsea, I'm not going to say glory supporters or not,
============================
As you are young you are probably not aware that for the best part of 3 decades, that is 30 years,Chelsea had the biggest gates in the country even though at that time they had never won any trophy at all.
Of course,I'm sure that was well before your time, history I think it's called.

I'm sure united had the highest attendances especially when we got relegated?

Arab Manc - London will always be full of supporters of many teams, with so many people moving here from all over its only natural people support all sorts of teams. At work I even know two Wolves fans (who took great pride in annoying me in the 08/09 season when they did the double over us). Teams don't really have a huge local feel here. I'd imagine the smaller towns/cities have a more local support than is found here, with the odd glory supporters there, but with something like eight million in the capital its no wonder they are out in numbers

This is quite possibly the biggest load of bull I have ever seen posted on any forum.

Yeah I understand mate, due to the high multi cultural ism in the city you'd have to understand the supporters reasons for their association with their respected clubs. But there's a lot of plastic cockneys here that I know and it's really annoying they support the club because they're in it for the trophy loving. They think buying a shirt justifies their support for the club, it's just annoying and we get stick from these people too. If I was an older adut with a decent job id be bloody driving up to Manchester many times to see my team on the pitch. Sadly, I'm still a young lad that's aiming for a good future. Hoping to go Uni in Birmingham next year

Chelsea in Crisis - I was talking about my local area then, not Chelsea support as a whole. Im not going to get into a debate about historical figures, rather than when I was at school and spending time in pubs after school there was a smaller Chelsea presence than there is now.
This could be a number of things.
1 - They just weren't as obvious or vocal about it.
2 - I live in an area that people from the Fulham/Putney area have in recent years tended to move into.
3 - You are in a period of success and it's only natural for you to gain newer fans, some genuine, and some glory.
Im not saying that your support is glory supporters, just saying that your success will create them.
I wasn't saying you were a small team before RA as I know thats not true, I was just saying that the numbers have increased in recent years.
This saying, I'm sure if Spurs, Fulham were suddenly the best two teams in the league that the numbers of fans of these teams would suddenly increase as well.
If anything its not an insult its a compliment as to how well you have been doing in recent years.
Im not saying that they will change support if things change, you will have these fans for life now, but when a club is successful you will always gain more supporters, whether it be kids, glory, local, family or whatever, its only natural.

oh, and PS Chelsea in Crisis.
Its also not about attendances either, as a lot of these newer Chelsea fans don't even go to games.
All clubs have them, succesful clubs just have more of them. Its nothing to start a debate about figures over.

People like you are the reason why I visit forums. Most of the posters talk rubbish and someone like you comes in and present your points in a clear and logical manner.
You've described our fan base to a tee and I know the glory hunters and plastics on here (the majority unfortunately). This same people will change their tune when we win games. There were no articles suggesting we would be out of the top 4 when we were beating all and sundry at the start of the season.
I would happily go trophyless to rid the club of these tools. They are an embarassment and disgust me. They are the reason why people put down our fans, because of the vocal, generally plastic majority. (A lot of them will have Chelsea and Arsenal tops as well)
