If Modric does leave, would it would be possible for VDV to fill his place in the middle of midfield? He's played there before for Holland and it could mean we can play VDV more regularly, and with two strikers up front.
If not VDV then unfortunately Parker could come in! Also, I can't see Huddlestone and Sandro together in midfield as a viable option.
All thoughts are welcome!

VDV is a centre attacking mid so maybe we could play a 4-1-2-1-2 formation. 2 strikers, VDV playing behind them, Bale & Lennon on the wings, Huddlestone/Sandro playing centre defensive mid.

If you look at it like this, maybe the words arent quite so unequivocal :
"I wish to make it absolutely clear, as I have said previously, that none of our key players will be sold this summer. We are building a team for the future to consistently play at the highest level and retaining quality players is crucial to that.
SO ANYONE WE DO SELL WE DONT REGARD AS A KEY PLAYER
"In respect of Luka Modric, we are not prepared to sell, at any price, to Chelsea Football Club or any other club.
WE ARE NOT PREPARED FOR IT, BUT WE'RE NOT RULING OUT THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN WHEN WE ARE PREPARED
"We made our stance on this issue abundantly clear in writing to Chelsea. They chose to ignore it and then subsequently made the offer public.
"For the avoidance of any doubt, let me reiterate that we shall not enter into any negotiations whatsoever, with any Club, regarding Luka.
WEVE NAMED THE PRICE. IT'S £45M. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT.
"We now consider this matter closed."
UNLESS SOMEONE OFFERS £45M.

If only that were so. Modric will be enjoying his Champions League football at the Bridge next season
Scott Parker will be enjoying Europa League with the spudlings though

i tell you what all this business might do, and that's encourage us to get some signings in a.s.a.p. that should stem the tide.
