De Rossi

Morning chaps. Just read an article on the guardian website stating city are looking into signing De Rossi. It seems he may available for around 5million.
Now I haven't really been one of those torrential abusers of our transfer policy like many on these boards, but if he is available and city do sign him, I will be livid. This is a player I have wanted at United for at least 3 years but due to his loyalty to Roma I thought he would never leave. If he is indeed willing to leave, then I think we have no alternative but to do everything in our power to sign him.
Yes he is 28, but that means he has 4 years left at the peak of his powers whillst our young gems are nurtured. His wage demands may (or may not) be high, but with such a small transfer fee I feel it is a must to sign him.
He truly is a cut above any midfielder we have and is the player I singled out for years as closest to being able to replace Keano.

Why do you want to sign a super bike champion?

montolivo is out of contract next summer and would be a great signing for us too <ok

De Rossi would be an unreal signing, especially at that price. With regard to his contract demands, he wont be getting as much as your highest earners, yet would IMO provide an essential role for your club.

However, I feel you would also need to sign another creative midfielder as well.

Hopefully we will put a bid in. Fergie is a long term admirer of him and I remember after we smashed them 8-1 at OT he wanted to sign him the following summer (despite his horrendous pen miss that made me ).

If its true about Montolivo being out of contract next summer he would be good. Very good passer of the ball and underrated too.

Just checked out both on Youtube. Of course they both look awesome but I would say De Rossi is more what we need in midfield...

Completely agree, him and Schweinsteiger have always been favourites of mine.

I agree DeRossi would be ideal and is exactly the sort of player we should be looking for given his quality, position, experience, price and availability assuming he doesnt resign this month.
