a Deja Vu moment

Today i took in my first live football game in the USA
up until now i have always hesitated attending a professional game as the standard i have witnessed on TV has been pretty poor, but my Daughter expressed a desire to go to a game and tomorrow is fathers day so we made it a Daddy-Daughter thing.

the game was the Minnesota Stars vs FC Edmonton

naturally we wanted the minnestoa Stars to win its our local club , and here is what i witnessed

throughout the game Minnesota had the vast majority of the play and possession.
the have good build up play , the most creative player seem to be a couple of pacey widemen and the full back like to get forward and over lap

despite decent build up the lacked a cutting edge with the forwards wasting several guilt edge chances which if taken would have won the game

they looked far more dangerous from set plays and this provided most of the better scoring opportunities

they have a tendency to give the ball away in critical midfield positions which puts some pressure on the centre backs

they didnt really get going and make really good chances until the last 30 minutes of the game

the opposition was held to just 4 real scoring chances 3 of them came in 1 ten minute spell in the first half , they scored one of there chances because Minnesota made a fundamental defensive mistake by allowing a long throw to bounce in the area instead of clearing it

the game ended in a 1-1 draw

any of this sounding familiar at all to anyone

No it doesn't sound familiar MN but what does sound familiar is that I had a accumalator on some MLS games yesterday, checked the results this morning,I had 5 homes and only 1 of them won!!! I don't usually bet on "foreign" football but I did it as a bit of a experiment,as I had read in a betting magazine that the MLS has the most home wins than any other league in world, not when I bet on it it doesn't!!!!

Do you ever watch the US national team? The standard seems to be much better than there club football and they have some decent individuals.Aren't they playing in the Gold Cup at the minute?

sorry yo hear that Art

The US national team has a better standard of football because half the team play abroad and i believe they are playing at the gold cup, although you wouldn,t know it over here, very little publicity on the regular news

the game i went to see was the equivalent of lower league to non league, they still played some tidy football though , although you could see at times their intention was better that their talent

the manager was also seen many times to be shouting push up, and play the ball very loud to the players, for most of the game it seemed be be ignored on the pitch
