PHIL JONES OVER-PLAYED?

I just read somewhere earlier that Phil Jones has had the maximum gametime amongst our entire squad bar Wazza(correct me if I am wrong).
Yes Jones is a terrific player and I have no superlatives to describe his talent. But do you guys think he has been over played this season? Let us not forget that Jones is just a 19 year old kid and has enormous expectations on him.
I think his versatility may also be his achilles heel. For example Jones is primarily a center back who can play full back as well as a central midfielder. Now looking at our injury problems this season whenever the twins get injured (not a surprising event these days), Jones is slotted to the right back position. Now Anderson and Cleverley who are out with long term injuries have made us pretty skint on the central midfield position and since Jones does a decent job there he has been used as a make shift CM. Now to add to that Vidic is out for the season and it won't be long before Rio joins him on the treatment table. So that means more game time for Jones.
Take for example Jack Wilshire. Arsenals only positive point last season. He was overplayed by Wenger and suffered a long term injury and no matter what reports say not many gooners believe he will get much game time this season. I think we are on the verge of doing the same thing with Jones.
In a recent interview even Jones suggested that he didn't expect to feature so extensively before joining but whether it is a good thing or a bad one I suspect Owen Hargreaves has a point about our medical staff. Coupled with the increasing expectations and large game time, this may put an stress on his still developing body.
We are not even halfway through the season and I think Jones has been overplayed and hope it doesn't take a toll on him in future.

Oh dear, I think I missed that.

Watching live means that you form your own opinion...watching it on tv means your opinion is formed for you by the program controller, you then form an 'opinion' based on what he/she wants you to see...sort of like a second hand opinion!

A Billy classic.

Anyway, Jones is overrated imo, and his 'versatility' will turn him into a John O'shea...a good player who can fill in at a number of positions, but nothing more than that, in my opinion of course!

...................

Are you basing this on seeing him at live games, or on a second hand opinion given to you by TV Controlers?

That 'second-hand' comment by me, or rather the article that it appeared in has really got to you hasn't it? I refer to it now myself in other articles because I get the impression that you are irritated by it!

Let me just make sure we are talking about the same thing. Is this the same article in which I said you receive a sort of 'second-hand' opinion watching games on TV. A comment that you then repeatedly insisted meant that my opinion was 'worthless' due to my use of the term 'second-hand'!! Completely ignoring the fact that second-hand does not, can not and never will mean worthless! That article?

Oh, my opinion is based on a mixture of things: my interpretation of his performances as seen on TV, the reports I read from the media and the opinion I hear and see from other football fans whom I like to think are good judges. I like to mix things up and not just have a one-dimensional thought process...sometimes!

Not all BillyBob

I told you at the time I was going to bookmark it.

Everytime you have an opinion, I just feel I have to remind you that your opinion is probaly not really yours.

Oh! It is clearly still evident that you did not understand what was being said on that thread...You need to think outside the box more often in my opinion.

I know your desperation to win and your 'read-cut-paste-hatchet job-post' way of debating on this forum doesn't really allow for much personal input, but it is refreshing at times to see comment from other posters that are not simply insults. You should try it, when was the last time that you said something that was actually worthy of debate and not simply an attempt at humiliation/mocking? Did you have a hard time as a kid?

Billy,

What is clearly evident, is that in your never ending desire to be a smartarse, you made a comment that was utterly ridiculous, and would come back to bite you.

Had you have said that you made a mistake, and that it is not what you meant to say, I would have let it go.

But Billy being Billy you just had to try to spin your way out of it, instead of 'manning' up.

The comment was only 'ridiculous' to those who did not understand what was being inferred.

And let's not pretend that you were only continuing because I did not admit that a mistake was made (which it wasn't, but hey...who cares when the need to 'win' is all-important!). We both know you continued with it because that is what you do, that is, miss the point and carry on regardless!

Anyway, I have to go and sort out Phil Jones' best position and I also need to scour the database of FM 2012 to see who United should sign to replace Fletcher!

Everyone else apart from you, you mean.

Good try Billy. But very lame, as usual.

You have definately lost your edge since the BBC closed.
