Gary ten deal Hamilton has been confirmed as the new Glenavon manager on a two-and-a-half year contract.
Hamilton's appointment was announced at a press conference at Mourneview Park on Thursday.
The Lurgan Blues had been negotiating the release of Hamilton from his playing contract at the Oval so that he could take the job.
Hamilton will take up his role as manager with immediate effect but will be unable to play for the club until the January transfer window opens.
His first game in charge will be against Linfield at Windsor Park on Saturday, followed by home matches against Crusaders and Portadown.
Champagne Gary takes over at Glenavon !

No matter how hard I try I cant help but dislike this guy with a passion.
Good player but with a chip on both shoulders.
If he had behaved at Windsor in the same manner he sulked and primadonnad at the Oval for 2 years he would have received a massive boot in the hole.
Plays when he feels like it.
I wish Glenavon well.

Your right Earl he is a player who you could'nt like if he was ur own.
Bleeding the glens dry when they were almost going under didd'nt seem to bother the glens as they took him back from his loan spell at Glenavon, at least he'll be able to have a drink and a smoke at half time now anyway.
i recall meeting him in Las Palmas airport after the Spain - NI game a few years back when me and a few mates got photos with the players we seen Hamilton and said "Gary anychance of a photo with the lads?"
to which his reply was "Only if yis give me a lambert"
Needless to say he was told to **** off

10/1 mate
I'd whack an oul score on that for sure.
Not much love for the man judging from above, goes with the territory I guess. I agree he certainly could have done a few things differently, but nobody's perfect. Has a big task ahead of him, wish him well.

i can just see him now sitting on the bench rolling a fat one when a Glenavon player gets injured... "Ya may play on cause were all stoned" would be his instructions
Glenavon are putting a lot at risk by appointing him, but you have to say fair play to Hamilton he was on something stupid like 1k a week with the glens all the while they have volenteers out on the streets trying to raise money to keep the club afloat.
So to get a managers job at a good well respected club like Glenavon and be able to call the shots and drink and smoke when he wants is some going

Gary Hamilton leading by example
Just been told that Spike was 1st choice and had been interviewed last week but wanted to bring his own staff in which Glenavon wouldnt agree to
Not to worry Spike, theres a job at Windsor some day for you

To be fair Deeko, the funniest thing about this article is the fact you actually have the nerve to criticise somebody elses lifestyle. What do you do in life other than drink, gamble and "tag-team" ? Oh and that trip to Amsterdam....I'd say Amsterdamians would probably book a trip to your gaff no harm to ye......lol.
