I just didn't understand the logic behind this substitution. He came on with about half and hour to go, surely AVB couldn't of been thinking of shutting up shop. We should of gone for a second goal and bringing off our most creative player and bringing on a player who doesn't pass forward is just a headscratcher. What are the thoughts of other Chelsea fans on this?

It was strange! because we had taken off Romeu just before. I never liked the look of the bench anyway but it was a strange substitution. A waste.

I think that Mikel is not good enough to play for Chelsea and have thought so for a long time.
Ditto Malouda, Kalou and Bosingwa.
Also time to say goodbye to Drogba, Anelka, Essien, Ferreira and Lampard if he thinks he should be starting regularly.
Fresh start required.

Mikel is perfectly good enough fr a top side but is just not suited to the type of football we want to play. However I would sell him in summer. Still a good player and I think he'd excel if he went to Italy.
But anyway we brought Mikel on to try and keep the lead, no?

Shutting up shop with half an hour to go was a bit drastic in my opinion. We should of at least gone for the second.

We wasn't 'shutting the shop' though, we were just trying to be more solid defensively as both Frank and Meireles where having a joke of a game, and didn't want to make a tackle and get a yellow.
