Why Does FIFA Reward Anti-Football Tactics?

I'm a terrible, terrible player since I've only just bought the game and it's the first time I've played a football sim since FIFA 08. My record currently stands at won 10, drew 8 and lost 60. I would say of the 60 defeats at least 40 have been by a clear 3 goals.

Anyway, as a terrible player my advice on beating players like me is learn the little tricks. I find it almost impossible to defend these as I really can't defend for toffee. Undoubtedly I'll dive into a tackle and you'll just dance round me and then slot it home for a comfortable win.

I refuse to play as them, and have got bored of playing Madrid so I often play as 4 and a half star teams.

But what I did was learn how to play buy playing non-stop on world-class in career mode. It made me defend better, but I'm slowly getting worse as this was on fifa 10 and I don't play 11 very much

Also, don't press circle much. I never do, and I rarely slide tackle, as I feel they give away fouls to often for stupid things. Hold x and defend deep when they come, holding x so you should block the shot, although you will still have to tackle. If they counter and you have like two men left, the game is stupid, so giving away a foul at the halfway line can stop the game so you can stop the counter. Anti-football and I rarely do it, but it works

All this "I can't defend" stuff is stupid. Learn how to jockey players and its a piece of peace

Don't press x. Contain is stupid. Other than contain defending is perfect in this game

I never choose these teams. Such a noob thing to do.
Defending is pretty easy.
Hold down R1 the whole time you are defending. This will bring a second man to close down the guy on the ball. Meanwhile the guy you are controlling can go intercept or read the pass.
It's pretty easy to do this.

Contain defending is really effective. Hold R2 and X, and then move with the player, he won't get past you 9 times out of 10. If he does, let go of the contain buttons and get close to him, and then start containing again.

If he has too much space, and the player is facing goal, just come closer and slide.

But that's not doing the work, I don't want to see the computer defend for me and me just pressing a button...nor do I want to play against the computer-like defending when I want to play against real people it's better than it was on FIFA11 when everyone used that close down like missiles thing but when defending I don't use any buttons on either 11 or 12. So much more fun
