January...

..from what Pearson said last night, it seems highly likely we will look to bring in some players next month.

However, he stipulated that this will also mean players being sold/loaned. Aside from Berner, who do we think will be let go?

Oakley,Moussa, Pantsil, Howard, Ball, Schlupp, etc??

I guess it's difficult with player's like Pantsil, because he may be getting to the age where he is happy to be a squad player and picking up, I would imagine, a substantial pay packet.

I do fleetingly wonder every now and then if Pantsil RB and Peltier RW could have been an option.

With prospect of Waghorn and a new striker in Jan, I can't see the point in keeping Howard and Schlupp here, so one will surely go out on loan, and I think Nigel has hinted it will be the latter.

If Berner is being shown the door, surely Moreno, without a squad number, will be released in January.

I'm not sure why Moreno's still here anyway.

Players have stayed for less.

Why are we assuming that Waghorn will return? That would really be turning the clock back, in every sense. Surely, if the Thais are ready to back Pearson in the market, we must be able to do better.

MallingFox, Pearson confirmed last night that when Waghorn is fit he will be part of his plans.

I can see a couple of wingers coming in, possibly a striker as well

Waghorn has actually already returned to the club. I think we should see how he plays under Pearson again, because a couple of years ago we all felt he was good enough for a promotion push.

Listened last night to the forum, seemed to me NP was saying they will look to buy IF the next 3 games see us take enough points to be in a position to challenge for the play-offs, otherwise he might just wait until the summer as January is NOT a buyer's market. Well that was my take on his answer.....so let's hope for 9 points.

If we get Billy Sharp, we could possibly offer Schlupp on loan until the end of the season to Donny?

If Pearson can get Waghorn playing to his old, high standard self, this could be very rewarding indeed, definately worth a shot. (no pun intended)

Oakley, Ball, Moussa, Moreno, Johnson are all decent players who could probably still play in the championship but our club has too much better competition I'm afraid.

IMO we need to keep Howard as a worst case scenario / plan B player. His experience, strength and passion may be needed at some stage (such as play off games.)

Pantsil I would keep until summer. For the 2012/13 season I would be looking for George Taft to step up to the spare RB role.

The clause in Sharp's contract means that a £3m offer automatically means he can choose to leave. So although no sweetener will be needed for the deal, it would be good experience for Schlupp to play at this level, probably week in week out.
