Seems as if Liverpool are trying to use a cultural difference for this obvious use of racist abuse
But what they seem to forget is that he did live in Holland for 5 years
The constant backing of a player who showed no respect is laughable at best, they should be concentrating on turning this around and trying to kick racism out of football, instead of this embarresing stance they are taking
There wouldn't have been a 8 match ban and a 40k fine for no reason!!
Terry next! lets kick this out of football for good

Fine mate. I'm not racist in the slightest. My ethnic background is from the sub continent but I was born and raised here. I have a mixed race girlfriend, and I've suffered racism first hand which is why I believe that this has trivialised the whole debate.
For me racism is not about the odd racial slur. I've suffered the odd racial slur in the past and not been offended. On the other hand I've been turned away from bars when all my white mates have got in. and I was completely offended by that. I've been stopped by the police because of racial profiling and I was offended by that.
In my opinion the FA should have looked at this, seen that it was a mistake borne by linguistic and cultural difference and let it go. At the same time they should have emphasised their stance of not tolerating racism. This would not have undermined their stance on racism nor would it have shown leniency.
Maybe I have a different opinion to racism to others do, but it just seems odd that those people I know who have sffered some form of racism thought that the FA made a mistake here and that Suarez shouldn't have been charged.
Apologies if I've offended anyone here, or twisted their words whilst I rambled on, but I think it is a good thing to talk about these things. I believe that some people have the wrong idea on what needs to be done to tackle racism. I'm not going to mention who, but one poster on here said that he's said racist things in the past (in private) but would never say it directly to a black man. For me that is completely wrong. Not saying something racist doesn't stop racism; you just shouldnt be having those thoughts in the first place.
Anyway tis the season to be jolly, blah blah blah, so I'll leave it at that.
Good luck beating Chelsea tonight!

and in doing so they'd have trivialised it, and sent out the message that as long as you have an excuse then racial comments are acceptable.
as it is, they have sent out a message that no matter what, there is no excuse for making racist comments.
to everyone except some liverpool fans, this is a good thing.
