Chris Riggott has parted company with Derby County having had his one year contract cancelled by mutual consent.
Chris failed to make one single appearence for the first team since signing a one year deal in the summer.
This is a shame. The almost romantic prospect of Chrissy making a return for Derby, is now not ever going to happen.
He's suffered terribly with injury during his career and I'd just like to wish him all the best for the future. A sentiment that I'm sure many Rams fans will echo.
A home grown talent, Chris loves Derby. He must be gutted.
All the best Chris Riggott.

Don't get me wrong I would love a fully fit Riggott in the side but this isn't 2003 and whether pay as you play or not we should not have given him any sort of contract it was just another ST sales ploy in my opinion. I hope he finds himself a club and can get fit to at least see out his career in a more dignified way than fading into the shadows.
Please don't confuse my disappointment that we signed a crock with my admiration for a once class player for the club, but sentiment is what is dragging us towards league 1 at the moment and I'm very short on sentiment right now.

Sorry tommo - don't buy into your comment that 'we signed a crock'
We didn't 'sign' Chris - it was purely on a pay per game, so we didn't actually have anything to lose but an awful lot to gain if Chris had regained full fitness.
Sentiment dragging us towards League 1? Where/what?

Appointing and continuing to memploy a manager due entirely to who his dad was

Thats crass and more swayed by personal opinion Chris than actual cold, hard facts.

It was a risk taking on Chris Riggott and I am sorry to see things didn't work out for him with regard to his injury....good luck Chris with your future.

Could you tell me why it was a risk? Except possibly to Steve Davies falling over Chris's prostrate form and breaking his coccyx before contracting Athlete's Spleen in a nasty paper-cut caused by coming into contact with a stray blade of grass whilst trying to get up from the ground.
Pay as you play implies 'no play, no pay'. It would have just cost DCFC his medical bills, that's all........ oh, I see your point.

Good luck Chris. I'm sorry not to have seen you again in a Derby shirt. I'd like to wish you all the best for a very happy future.

Shame it didn't work out, but it was definitely worth the risk free gamble.
Good luck to Chris for the future.

Chris, sad to see you go, like most fans I really hoped to see you play one last time

That was hardly a rant now was it? Just an example in my opinion of sentiment getting in the way of making a sensible decision for the right reasons.
If and when Nigel does leave the club I will be very interested in hearing who Ramkind will want as the next manager. I don't think many will be calling for the appointment of the manager of the conference national leaders.
