To me since Lenn has been out we've been OK but we haven't been as good , moving Modds or RVDV out wide is not the answer for 2 reasons firstly and most importantly we miss them in the middle and TBH they drift to their natural positions anyway , secondly I don't believe they have the attributes to play wide in the same way as the wide players don't have them to play centrally .....
I believe we need to go back to the same system thar we had when we were playing some great stuff a couple of weeks ago ....The easiest solution is to let Modds and Scott play their favoured roles in the middle and give young Townsend a go on the flanks , Bale has proved he can play on either wing so put Andros on his favoured side , we can have a couple of back up systems in place i.e having Sandro ready to come on to release Modds out wide or replace Townsend with Y.K and let Walker move further up-field....
Lenn was not at his very best at the start of the season but the team and him seemed to grow together and now for me we have lost the balance to some extent which Azza gave us and it would be great to get it back.............
Going backward to move forward

Do you think Kranjcar is a Bale like-for-like replacement ??
When a player is injured, you play like-for-like with a replacement, or change the tactics ??
Who is your suggested like-for-like with Bale ??
Who is your suggested like-for-like with Lennon ??

Tell me when they are both going to get injured at the same time .....
Do you want me to spell it out in words of one syllable ???
GET TOWNSEND IN TO GET SOME PREM EXPERIENCE , IT WILL HELP IF WE HAVE MAJOR WIDTH PROBLEMS
Hmm are you going to show your childishness with more silly smileys ???????

Why are you trying to be so bloody clever ????
It's just so simple..... we are short in wide areas and need to get the younger wide players some game time in case we need to use them there

squid :
I am asking you for SPECIFIC ANSWERS to the problems, not some silly vagueries about "younger" players.
If you think Townsend is a plan B for Lennon, then say so.
At least we can then discuss things like why when playing in the very same position against lowly Enfield last month, he was such a showboating a-r-s-e of a failure.

If you do not have a like-for-like replacement for Lennon (ie no right pace flank attack) , then which players/tactics do you select to maintain the shape and threat of the OTHER MF players ??
Or is Lennon +/- the right flank pace so pivotal that the manager has to play it even when Lennon is out ??

We are weak on both flanks, Townsend is the only other natural winger at the club (I don't consider Rose to be a natural winger any more), he's show he has a good right foot so if he gets game time he could be a very useful player for us.
Our wings are something that needs to be improved, maybe not January but definitely in the summer.

Rose and Townsend are both left wingers. Dos Santos can play on the right, but isn't exactly señor workrate. Our positional like for like right winger (albeit less pacey and more tricky) is Bentley, who is injured and was out of form.
Niko's played on the right and against a smaller side might offer something that could unlock their defence. Saying that, Lambert's Norwich will attack so perhaps Niko isn't the best option on the right in that respect.
I expect given the current injuries as 'arry's reluctance to play GDS,Niko,or a younger player we'll go with:
Freidel
Walker Kaboom Gallas BAE
Bale Sandro Parker Modric
VDV
