This article is mainly about the problem we have currently which is scoring goals. There has been alot of talk about the possibility of bringing a striker that can finish off the chances that we create but is that really the solution??
The reason why I ask is that for example, we had Carroll playing against Blackburn, I didn't see the match so I cannot say too much but was he the one that was missing all the chances? I know he did have a header which just went wide, keeper saving from point blank range and maybe another one late in the game.
If another striker was in his position, would they have scored those chances?? I am not a Carroll fan and I am not the one who'll get on his back but I do feel that he may not be good enough for the number 9.
What I do think that the whole team has a problem scoring and not just the strikers(s), other players are also getting chances but they are not finishing them so am not sure if a new striker will solve all are problems but I would like a new striker for the reason that he might give us more options upfront.
What do you guys think?
Is a prolofic striker really the answer?

I think we need a new striker with pace, but it's not as simple as buying a poacher and expecting him to finish every chance we make.
We need a player who is quick and will provide a focal point. Carroll is still too raw and positionally he is all over the place at times. We need a player to lead the line and to be in and around the box more often.

Spurs have been a similar position to Liverpool for a couple of seasons now. We all know we need a new and clinical striker.
The problem is without CL football and without a massive budget its been really difficult to find a player who meets all our requirements.
Who then are you guys interested in? Ba? Bent?

We've been unlucky in other games where we've hit the woodwork or a keeper has a blinder but against Blackburn our finishing was poor.
Suarez was a bit wasteful, got himself in a couple of good positions but shot wide.
Maxi scored but shoud have done better with another header.
Downing missed a couple of chances - skied a couple and then got a weak contact on a couple - the header and left foot shot.
Carroll header that went wide was a decent effort. He had two shots which were well saved by the keeper so I don't think he was really to blame. He had 3 chances, 2 of which were on target and very well saved (second one an unbelievable save).
The problem for us at the moment is that Suarez is a forward and not a striker. He likes to play across the front line and that's when he is at his best. With him all over the palce, that leaves Carroll isolated in the middle. We need out midfielders to make more forward runs and Adam and Henderson didn't do it enough. Our wide players also need to come in to have more men in the box.
When Gerrard came on we looked much better as he drove the team forward. He has the ability to pick a pass for the likes of Suarez and Carroll. Henderson sat back and mopped up, Gerrard drove forward.

With Suarez out with a ban and Gerrard not certain to be fit, then yes we do need a striker, and a very good one at that!

We also need Fowler to coach any potential fox in the box. How old is Robbie's lad.

We have the lowest chance conversion rate in the Premier League. Of course we need a striker.

New club, new team mates, high pressure. With N'castle shirt, with those chances he would've had at least 10 prem. goals this season.. patience!
