Creative cm for next season

Following the spurs game which highlighted that we dont have much cover behind raul and stevie at creative cm. A few names have been touted as players to bring in:

Diego (wolfsburg)
-not seen to much of him, supposedley very talented but with poor attitude and abit of a show pony. He's brazilianĀ“so could communicate well with lucas and raul.(12m)

Defour (standard leige)
-yet again not seen alot of him, young cm with excellent range of passing, very highly rated and seen to be part of belgiums emerging 'golden generation'(12)

James Mc'carthy (wigan)
-have followed him since his time at hamilton, only 19 and already a composed skillful and creative cm proven to a degree in the prem. We actually tried to sign him when he was about 16. IMO best option were we definatley bringin somone in bags of potential and would be relitavley cheap
(7m if wigan stay up 4-5 if they are relegated)

Ofcourse the other option would be to use those that are already on our books, Aquilani has undoubted talent but highly questionable fitness and attitude. Shelvey is also a promising option and has shown glimpses of real passing ability (assist for suarez vs fulham comes to mind) it is debatable though if he has the experience necesary to be starting many games yet.

Thoughts?

You can have Denilson, he wants out

Lady Eowyn, how lovely to see you here!!

Oh, and no ta, you can keep him for your first XI to replace the Cescy one scuttling off to Barca.

I'll take the return of Aquilani (or a bag of cash) to add to midfield (that'lll make 3 creative midfielders, we won't need more than that)

This is an area of the field that my beloved Spurs is overly blessed with talent. Consider the likes of Modric, VDV, Tom Huddlestone, and now young Sandro!

Wasn't fat Joe supposed to be your saviour? I seem to recall that you Scouse-types were dancing in the streets when he snubbed both us and the Gooners and decided, instead, to go and sit on your bench eating all the pies for £95,000 a week.

err gerrard not creative no??

it didn't work with aquilani becuase there was nowhere to fit him in. it didn't work with joe cole because there's nowhere to fit him in. what makes you think that it will work with any of the players you've just mentioned.

If you read the article you'll see i mentioned gerrard

aquailani was actually playing well for us in a central creative position towards the end of last season and managed to get heavily involved in linking midfeild and attack and providing assists. whilst true that his transfer didnt exactly work out that was more down to fitness(and possibly attitude) problems.

if we want to be competing on all fronts we need to have good squad depth and as gerrard is aging/picking up more injuries i feel this is an area that we could do with added strengthening, unless of course shelvey/aquilani are able to step up next season
and whilst we appear to play best with 3 central midfielders there is fine well enough space to fit in extra ball playing centre midfielders, especially those with the potential to eventually take over from our established stars (mc'carthy)
