Francis Coquelin is better than Alex Song

I have been saying this for a while now but Alex Song is a liability he will cost us games because he doesnt want to defend and doesnt have the right attitude.

For me what i want from a DM is a warrior attitude, Defend at all costs, get tackles in, get in people's faces.

Not some donkey strolling around thinking hes Zidane going foward and creating and scoring and then when the opposition counter attacks gets caught out of position and gives away a foul, booking

Francis Coquelin is combative hes a real competitor hes more of a conventional DM and for me its only a matter of time before he displaces him.

People need to stop wowing over Song's passes, assists look at his defending hes not a great defender imo

Batmanu, I think it's really unfair to say he was merely 'the best of a bad bunch'. That's like playing down Koscielny's performance at Stamford bridge, simply because he was the 'best of a bad bunch' as our defence apart from him was completely awful.

He's played against United, Spurs and City and done exceptionally well. He hasn't only blended in, but he's enhanced his reputation by actually putting in genuinely brilliant performances. Not the 'he's a young inexperienced lad so he was brilliant for his age' performances but the 'wow this guy has been majestic, what a brilliant midfielder' performances.

His performance vs Olympiacos wasn't bad. He was playing through injury in the second half and the goals we conceded were all self inflicted, none were his fault.

I believe we only have two youngsters ready for first team football, Coquelin and Chamberlain. So i'm not over rating our younger players simply because they look good in a bunch of youtube videos.

I think the likes of Frimpong and Miquel are no were near ready, they really need a loan spell. I remember when Wilshere had a shocker in the fa cup against west ham, then he was sent to bolton on loan. He came back and we all know what happened next

Dropping an experienced, proven DM with an inexperienced kid who has shown glimpses of skill and potential 'in the big games' are the words of an optimistic fan and, thankfully, something that an experienced manager like Wenger would never consider doing.

as said in my previous comment, coquelin needs a good loan spell with a premier league team. wolves are said to be interested. bolton could do with him.

Anyone agreeing with John

For a start, Coquelin isn't a sit in front of the back 4 type midfielder. Have any of you actually watched him play??

He has done okay in the games he has played, although against Olympiakos he was lacking somewhat. The games he has played have seen a large number of goals conceded!

Coquelin is at his best when he has the likes of Frimpong, Eastmond or indeed Alexandre Song himself playing alongside him.

Anyone who believes John is right is wrong, so very wrong.

(and yes, I have seen a lot of Franny C, in the youth team, reserves and at Lorient last season.)

I know everyone has differing views on players but a view this extreme from the norm is just retarted.

Have you ever seen any of our games? I would think not. Song is always breaking down opposition plays. He's always back there covering when the opposition breaks.

The only thing he lacks is mobility.

The problem is, is Coq capable of lasting the full hour and half? that's the one thing I fear Coq hasn't got. Stamina. Good at penetrating in tight situations but for 90 mins? Not so sure Coq can handle it tbf
