Confidence in Carroll

I remember when Lucas first joined us when he was 21/22. His first few performances were similar to the comments made about Andy Carroll; "Decent, but not good enough."

For all we know, in 5 years time Andy Carroll could be scoring for fun, and some of us would laugh to think people doubted him.

Keep the faith

Donnelly may be one for the future but he's nowhere near the answer to our current goal scoring problem.

He plays in the Irish League ffs - have you seen the standard

Carroll is a pretty dire footballer, an old fashioned number 9, who's good in the air, but that's about it.

I was amused watching him warming up with the rest of your squad at the derby. They were doing the 1-2 then shoot routine on the edge of the box. The likes of Suarez, Kuyt etc were pinging them into the net, while poor old Andy was spooning them into the crowd, slicing them at all sorts of angles & looked like a pub player.

You've spunked your dosh on him, he's the kind of player that is great to come off the bench late on, if you're losing & need a 'plan B' i.e. lumping it into the box. But he's worth a fraction of what you paid for him.

Gerrards return will benefit Carroll IMO particulary from open play.

I agree with kneerash. In the few times they've been on the pitch at the same time this season, Carroll has looked more dangerous with Gerrard won the pitch.

Gerrard got the best out of Torres, why not Carroll.

Thanks for that Toblerone Boots. But who cares what he did warming up. He scored against you and thats all that matters

Touche

One of his whopping total of 3 for the season mate, matched by a lad we paid £50K for.........

I was just being honest fella, I don't rate the lad as top draw & for £35M you should be seeing a top draw player.

Should be a decent game tonight

First few performances.....? He was complete utter rubbish for his first 2 seasons. No hiding that fact

And why do opposition fans keep touting the 35 million price? That was essentially a deal between N'castle & Chelsea.. due to the fact that Chelsea was permitted to have Torres for the price of 15 million pounds and Carroll. So, in essence Chelsea paid the price.
Andy is tops 15 million player
And btw, who cares if we have the money, City spend a billion pounds!!!!!!

The argument that Chelsea effectively paid the money is naive at best, fact of the matter is we spent £35 million on a player who as yet hasn't performed, it doesn't matter if we have the money or not it's about value for money

dumbest argument ever!

Liverpool had a say so in (a) whether Torres left and (b) whether you bought Carroll.

If you are saying that NUFC and Chelsea reached an agreement and LFC had no say then you are run by a bunch of weak spineless no-hopers.

You didn't pay £15m for him...Chelsea gave you £50m and LFC gave £35m of it, in cash, to NUFC.

So funny how you always say "why do opposition fans keep touting the 35 million price?" and you then make up some illogical rubbish stating you spent £15m on him to try and hide the fact that you actually paid £35m for him. Its pathetic

I know you love a WUM on the Liverpool board but you are correct in that assessment, it was our money and we decided to spend it on Carroll, It is nearly (but not quite) as bad as our fans saying Glen Johnson only cost £10 million because Pompey owed us £7 million from the crouch deal back in the day
