Now I agree in principle with the Respect referees campaign. I hate to see a ref crowded when he's made a decision, but the FA have forgotten one thing. Respect has to be earnt.
The referee today was poor. He wasn't biased, and I'm sure he's not a bad person, but he was just inept.
He lost control of the game, made many bad decisions (including not booking their player for retaliation/raising his hands to Beckford) and not giving a clear penalty (The linesman should have given it if the ref hasn't seen it).
So, come on FA, sort it out. If the ref's are good enough, the respect will come. Get some ref's who can at least give basic decisions, and the campaign will hold much more weight.

Whilst the ref wasn't great today, he didn't cost us 2 points, our inept performance saw to that.
Pearson needs to find a way of getting our team to create more chances and fast.
Abe was shocking today and as a result, King and Wellens offered little also. Wellens a little better than recent games but still not in form.
The ONLY way we were ever going to score today wa from Gallagher's set pieces!
I've said it time and time again but why not one last time. A defensive midfielder to do a better job than Abe. Creative midfielders to give our strikers any hope of scoring. A tall mobile striker to help the others.
So frustrating!!

I actually thought Abe did a good mopping up job today. He sat nicely, and picked a lot up, particularly 2nd balls in front of the back four. I'd seriously suggest that he was the best of our midfield 3.

Wow, we watched different games Cantle. I thought he looked weak, beaten too easily on numerous occasions and played some very sloppy passes!!! As for mopping up, he let players run through him like soggy toilet paper!!

Alan Young had lots of praise for Abe on the radio commentary, for what is is worth.
But this was another failure at home to beat a lower league side - indeed it sounded a pretty even contest. Pathetic.

Henderson kept Portsmouth in the game with some fine saves. Mattock took out one of Beckford's pegs so that was a good call for a penalty. I was also concerned that Mullins wasn't dealt with when he attempted to prevent Schmeicel from taking a free-kick, especially as it resulted in an injury to our goalkeeper.
A fragile looking defence again.

The refs this season have as usual been appalling
Todays was just another in a long line of refs who in recent years have given wrong decisions against us.
The second half performance of the ref today was dreadfull, denying us an obvious penalty. This was another of several bad refs this season, starting with Moss at forest who did not understand the handball rule, and continuing with the ref at Brum who lives or works in Peterborough , so he was bound to be neutral.
Quite simply bad decisions do not even themselves out, and the quality of refs is quite shocking, with far too many games being decided by dodgy decisions.
Are they incompetant ? are they dishonest?
we will never know, but they are just not accountable enough, and are in my opinion ruining the game.
Respect the ref ? sorry professional refs are a joke, remember the playoffs? Wiley and Webb.
2 unforgivable displays of incompetance.

Thought Abe was our best player again - he is effective at breaking down play - it's our so called play makers, King, Gallagher and Wellens that are under performing. Whilst Gallagher's delivery from set pieces are very good, he does nothing else.

Downsouf, Spot on mate.
I though Yuke Abe was our best midfielder again. I feel that Wellens has gone right of the boil, and may need a couple of weeks to re-find his form of earlier in the season.
When Pearson left us 18 months ago and Paulo sousa came in, and the Sven, Richie Wellens did say publicly that he didn't enjoy his first season under Pearson as the midfield was by passed all to often, and that he was relishing the passing game under sousa and Sven.
Is this a factor in his loss of form ?
