this team has about as much quality as the Chelsea team just before the Roman take over.
I know these days there is even more competetion for the 4th spot than back then, but these days we are playing so so poor its unbeilevable! I think the likes of Cole, Terry, Lampard, Drogba and even Cech, are all past their best days. Looking at the new stars Mata, Sturridge, Ramires, Luiz, apart from Mata, none seem to be good enough at this moment in time. Sturridge has been great this year but his decision making is poor, and he shouldn't be playing wing, next game he should be tried as the lone forward as Drogba and Torres have been terrible at times. Perhaps then we could see the best of him. Ramires is great, however I feel he lacks the final pass. Luiz is great on his day, but makes a fair few mistakes, I feel he needs a true mentor, like Carvalho and Pique had with Jose and Pep.
I feel we should invest in a proper winger who can supply width to the team, because when you look at how united play when they are behind, they wip balls in, and search for the centre forward. We had no width today, we tried to pass it through today, it was predictable and also verry risky! This is our final chance to take advantage of Roman's finances, as next year finanicial fair kicks in. We need to catch up with United and City as we have been left behind.
Also, all you guys don't press the panic button just yet, and spurs and rival fans don't get carried away with gloating. As this isn't the first sticky mess Chelsea have got them selves in, last year was even worse. But we turned it around and finished 2nd.

Meireles has been worse than Lampard, I wouldn't start him at all.
Perhaps this might sound crazy but maybe we should play this:
Cech
Ivanovic Luiz Terry Cole
Ramires Romeu Mata
Kalou Torres Sturridge
that way sturridge would stop coming inside and shooting and perhaps he might cross for a change. Also Mata can bring in some creative spark into midfield and Kalou can be temp for now, but at least with him he does work hard.

Sturridge is not a crosser, reason he's on the right is for the goal threat he provides. Also Mata is definately not a deep-midfielder for a 4-3-3, we would get overran in midfield

Cech
Hucthinson Luiz Terry Bertrand
Ramires Romeu McEachran
Sturridge Torres Mata
Would be my team for Wolves

BK you have point maybe about Sturridge, but I disagree about Mata. At the start of the season he was poor defensively and only had a poor work rate. However he does help out a lot these days. And with Ramires and Romeu he would be supported with the physical element.
Mata plays best inside anyway, his worst peformances have been when hes isolated out on the wing.

Nah sorry btu he's been a winger or AM all his career and playing him in a deep-midfield positionjust wouldn't work. He would have to play passes from deep which we don't know if he's any good at (he's very good at short passes and moving) as well as move in tandem with the midfield and defend and attack when he's been used to an attacking free role his career. It would be good just as this:
Ramires Romeu
Sturridge Mata Kalou
Torres

Fair enough, and yeah that formation looks about right.
I really want to see Kalou have a game as although he isn't the best he does work and does add a bit of speed to the game

I don't like the idea of Ramires Romeu in the two, neither are passers, nor do they control the game. Both good players, but it should only be one of them in the 2.
