After going through the posts since our defeat, its quite obvious that no one can put a hand on what exactly the problem is. The main fear is that the team doesn't seem to have a direction now. After the change to a deep line against newcastle, valencia and City, we don't seem to have any direction anymore. Drogba doesn't try anymore, he rarely moves about. His movement used to be very important in creating space for Sturridge, Mata and Lampard/Meireles but he doesn't do it anymore. Cech has made quite a few strange moves in recent games too. He's so off form right now. I don't even want to begin on Frank. There's absolutely no competition for Sturridge and Mata's places in the squad. No faith in Bertrand or Josh which further depletes our threadbare squad. It seems the current crisis is a combination of various unaddressed problems popping up at once And it won't be resolved by just sacking the Manager. The first step is signing quality players. AVB is quite adept at this so we can trust him with it. He has said he has already outlined his targets which is very good. He has been good at spotting our weakpoints and isn't too stubborn. The second step is to trust Josh and Ryan. I seriously doubt i'm the only one that sees Josh's presence in our midfield greatly improving our creativity. With Josh in the team, those slide rule passes that Torres feeds off will be in constant supply. He's also quite good at going past an opposition player which is something only Ramires in our midfield offers. If we are going through a transition, we might as well incorporate him into the team for the future. He performed brilliantly in our preseason too. I'm Hoping he can get some game time against Wolves.

Benayoun has hardly played for Arsenal. 2 starts I think and then late sub appearances.

I hope this year is better than last...
As for AVB, he has done a lot wrong, but the players are even worse.
Having second thoughts about going to chelsea portsmouth....

You may well be right. I do not generally watch the gunners play. But when I have it happened that Yossi was on the pitch. The last match I saw him play was v Wolves where he set up the goal and looked sharp.
I remembered a rather delightful pre season goal he scored for us. My point was not to talk up YB but more the problem that needs solving about Torres's lack of service. Yossi may have just been the catalyst our Fernando needs, and it looked promising the very short cameos when they were both on the pitch at the same time.

I'd happliy bet money on us finishing lower than 4th.
I already have a wager about Mikel not scoring this season, looks like I'll win the bet.
